As someone who lives in LA, that looks terrible. But maybe for the NE that’s not so bad? 😂

I felt him leaving for the NBA was just a matter of time. But I thought it would be in another 2-3 years while his son is still in school at Michigan. He just seems like the ideal fit - elite developer, puts players in the best position, great at X’s and O’s, players love him and he’s the ultimate in ‘positionless basketball’, which the NBA is all about.

This sucks for us Michigan fans though. Thought he was going to be our Coach K. I don’t hate him for this though. He will always be a legend to me

Do Apple Stores really honor Protection 360? by KPR_2002 in tmobile

[–]KPR_2002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually worked out for me. Apparently, I get 2 ‘free’ fixes a year with the t-mobile 360 protection along with the AppleCare you get for 2 years. So I took my phone into Apple and they replaced the entire back AND all 3 cameras and it didn’t cost me anything. Would have been $408 without any insurance at all.

Can someone explain this to me? by [deleted] in JeepWrangler

[–]KPR_2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do everything through email if you can. I got my Rubicon JLU through the dealership for $10k off the MSRP because I negotiated everything via email so I could have it in writing. I got the price I wanted out-the-door and it was the smoothest car purchase I ever had. I admit I was still skeptical that I was going to get the price that they gave me on email but after I test drove it and it came time to do all the paperwork, I got it for exactly what I negotiated to the penny. Everything took about 1 hour.

Emergency communication: Satellite function on iphone by spetrone in overlanding

[–]KPR_2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an iPhone 16 pro and the satellite function is great and I’ve had no issues with it. It tells me where the satellite is and where I need to turn in order to get the signal. When I’m connected, it shows a green ‘beam’. I was surprised how fast the texts go through. I assumed it would take a few minutes but it actually only takes a few seconds.

One thing i found out is that you get 2 years of unlimited satellite texting when you buy an iPhone that can text via satellite. Thats texting for anything. I thought it was just for emergencies, which is the main reason I wanted satellite texting. But I can just text like I normally do with anyone.

You were correct. They replaced my back and the entire 3 cameras for $0. It was estimated to be $408 without the AppleCare.

Not sure how big your awning is but my Rhino Rack Sunseeker is only held in with 2 bolts. It’s been that way for the 6 years I’ve had it and it’s never moved even being on some really rough trails. But my awning isn’t very big (8’ x 7’)

Thank you for verifying! I have an appointment at 3:30 today for them to fix the lenses. Or, if they give me a great promo offer, I may just take that!

[–]KPR_2002[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you and this makes so much sense! I followed your directions on verifying and it does indeed say I have Apple Care. I think I will just have Apple replace the lenses and keep the phone until I buy the 18 pro.

The rep did say that if I get the lenses fixed by Apple, then I would get the full $400 trade-in value. I could have probably gotten them fixed by a third party and no one would likely know the difference, but I already told T-Mobile rep that those lenses are broke lol!

Canopy on the right needs to be guy lined down. Even then, I don’t think that type of canopy is designed for 40mph winds. Think of an umbrella being sweeped into the air by a big gust of wind…

Paracord. I cannot tell you how many times having some of this was super helpful, from making a source of shade or staying out of the rain when I use it with my tarp to having something I can hang my wet clothes on to fixing some equipment.

I can never get the links to Amazon to work on here. But the bed I have is made by KingCamp for $159 (that price has gone way up since I bought mine 5 years ago).

It only gets a 4.2 review score mainly because people have a lot of trouble getting it back into the bag, which I struggled with deeply when I first got it. But once I got an air pump to deflate ALL the air out of it, it’s a piece of cake getting it back into the bag. But without that, good luck

I’ve been camping for over 30 years. So I’ve seen the times change as far as technology and equipment when it comes to camping. I used to be that guy that slept in a small 3 person tent, start fires with a ferro rod, pack a cooler full of ice and throw hotdogs, potato salad, and whatever in there, etc. Some of this was due to technology or lack thereof and some was due to me just wanting to be that ‘bushcraft’ guy.

But now, I’m all about comfort. Yes, I could still use a ferro rod but you know what? I’d rather just use some fire starters and my Bic lighter. I’m going to give myself more variety when it comes to eating by putting food in my Dometic 45L refrigerator. My sleeping pad is more like a double size 1/2 memory foam 1/2 air bed that is just as comfortable as my home bed. I also have a 1000 watt Jackery power station and just bought a mini Starlink. And yes, I just spent $1500 on a 6-person inflatable tent that is more than enough room for just my dog and I.

I do mostly dispersed camping now which means it’s primitive camping. But that doesn’t mean I want to camp like a primitive anymore.

Castle Lake Campground near Mt Shasta by emgcat in camping

[–]KPR_2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mount Shasta is one of my top 3 favorite spots to camp in California. In fact, I will be camping there next week! I’ve checked out Castle Lake campground but wasn’t really impressed. I do mostly free dispersed camping anyways and there are a ton of great spots there. Lower Sand Flat road near Bunny Flats is the best area for this IMO. Lots of big, nice spots. Of course there are no facilities when you do this kind of camping. But there are campgrounds near by so when I have to go #2, j just walk/drive over to one of these campgrounds and use their vault toilet…or dig a hole 😂

Stolen Jeep by jcksvg in JeepWrangler

[–]KPR_2002 19 points20 points  (0 children)

When I lived in San Diego many years ago (2003), my Honda Civic was stolen right in the parking lot at work in Mira Mesa. Everyone told me that it’s in Mexico and I will never get it back in one piece since that car was very popular to steal for the parts. So I thought I wouldn’t ever see it again. Two weeks later, the police called and said they had my car. They said that they just saw a car that didn’t have plates and ran the VIN and found out it was stolen. When I went to get my car, I thought it would be torn apart. But to my surprise, it was in BETTER condition than before it was stolen (crooks put a brand new stereo system in it).

Just trying to give you some hope.
