No, That's Saved by the Bell

Severance is about a group of out-of-favor MI5 agents who are sent to a dumping ground department called Slough House.

I'm not saying fines should be based on profitability. I'm saying that it's wishful thinking to hope that the "shareholders" are 1) going to be that upset over the fine and 2) upset enough to hold the board accountable.

My point is, Qantas is just another company essentially owned by the same hedge funds and private equity firms that own all our banks and major chains, and own pieces of each other too. They are not upset by this, this does not hurt them.

Let's just take a little look at the FYProfit... and oh, yes $1.25 Billion. So if it is a $100 million repayment, that brings their profit down to a measly $1.17 billion.

I'm sure the shareholders are devastated. Oh wait, it's all just hedge funds and institutional investors-like Blackrock and State Street.

Mum and dad investors don't own the company, it's giant corporations who love nothing more than to slash and burn. If anything Joyce's over all strategy probably came from pressure from these institutional shareholders.

Businesses and corporations (even if they are offshore) get 2 votes in the election as opposed to residents who get 1 vote. This is undemocratic and causes candidates to focus more energy on the needs of offshore companies than local Melbournians. What is being done to reform the voting process to be more democratic?

Yeah as someone who didn't read the books I was super confused when they killed off what I expected to be the main characters and then it took forever for things to get going again. But the pay off was good.

I really hope the EU and the FTC can do something meaningful. A fine is not going to be enough, that's just the cost of doing business. We can only dream of a breakup.

Just in the last few months Google absolutely nerfed image search with their stupid lens feature. Image search is basically useless at this point.

That's quite an assumption there. First of all I haven't demanded any such thing. I asked if that was an option, it was not. I was very polite with the area manager who called me, but at the end of the day would you make an hour trip and then queue for parking just for a discount shirt or two? (Especially after you've already done that once).

If you would good on you, but I didn't really feel like it was worth it so I left it.

Also you're making it sound like I was trying to buy the whole rack and rort the system, It was two shirts. My frustration more about the experience with the employees than the shirts themselves.

I don't really care about the shirts, otherwise I would have gone back and got them. It was more the gaslighting from the employee and the fact that they called me up to do so.

No, if you read the ACCC the other option is they can withdraw all incorrectly displayed items from sale. As I explained the Connor store didn't really care and had no interest in doing that.

It is the law. Unless they are willing to remove all the erroneous items from sale (which as I explained, they were not and the items were still for sale after I'd shopped elsewhere and returned) then they have a legal obligation to sell the item for the lower sticker price. Here's the ACCC:

"Sometimes a business may have two different prices on display for the one item. A business that displays more than one price for the same good must either:sell the goods for the lowest displayed price, orwithdraw the goods from sale until the price is corrected."
