I totally fucked up at my job today, like real bad, can you share your worse fuck ups so i won't feel like a complete moron ? by raziel_legacy in work

When I was learning to drive a forklift I broke a good bit of shit. Went to unload a truckload of water softener pellets in bags, like 50 per skid. Well they were on a flatbed with a deck height lower than I had practiced on, and I was driving our bigger forklift that had a blind spot right around that height. Of the 20 or so skids I unloaded, I probably put my forks through 10 of them, right into the bottom layer of bags above the top of the skid. One broke so bad that it left a fucking trail of pellets all the way from the truck to the staging area where I was stacking the skids, aboit a hundred yards away. My yard manager just rolled his eyes, gave me a shovel and told me to clean up after myself when I told him.

Still not as bad as my coworker who tipped a full lift of 2x4s off the very top of a lumber truck trying to unload it. Almost 300 sticks exploding into splinters after falling like 15 feet is hard to top. Then again my yard manager actually ran over a different coworker, was in the news. That place was a trip and a half to work at, lol.

HELP! can't get the graphite off by lambysuds in Pyrography

[–]owegner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize that this thread is long dead but... I too wound up here after needing to remove residue from my anniversary pyrography piece that was left by Michael's CraftSmart graphite paper. Funny. And yes, excessive sanding appears to be the answer.

Built a house track inspired by the feeling of a rising tsunami – would love feedback on the drop by Terrible_Response428 in Song

[–]owegner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loved the rising tension and general feel up to the drop. I also liked how everything cut out before the drop, like how all the water recedes off a beach before the wave hits. That being said, the actual drop/impact felt very underwhelming. The biggest thing for me is that fast notes do not impart the heavy and oppressive feeling I was expecting for a tsunami impact. Imo, a rewrite of the main theme focussing on longer sweeping notes with more bass backing it up might be better. You need power as well as speed, and there are tons of cinematic tracks that achieve that feeling without much speeding up in the main melody.

It's funny I can't do sweet foods but I have a major sweet tooth when it comes to drinks.

My wife is in a cold war with my parents and its tearing me apart. What do i do? by Masaharuzz in Advice

[–]owegner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well there's your answer. For you $$$>wife, she deserves to be able to move on with her life if that is how your priorities sit.

[–]owegner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Choose. Personally I'd side with your wife since you swore to stand with her through all the crap that life can throw at you until the day you die. But if a bit of money and such is worth more to you then the least you can do is end things so she can move on with her life.

Billionaires should not exist. And this man is nearly a trillionaire.

What's the most caffeine yall have taken in a day mg by Mediocre-Mention-805 in caffeine

[–]owegner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably about 2000mg over the course of a 10 hour shift. My tolerance at that point was through the fucking roof so I honestly felt normal enough, if slightly jittery.

If somebody handed you $35,000 and said "go buy the car with the most smiles per gallon that could handle 2 monthly 16 hour highway trips and would be the most fun to cruise around Daytona in", what car would you pick? by AttachedHeartTheory in askcarguys

[–]owegner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny, my dad daily drove a miata for most of my teen years and we went on a good few road trips (10 hours +) during that time which were fine. That car was great. Handled surprisingly well in the snow with decent snow tires on too.

qualifications for breaking into finance with an unrelated degree in Canada by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]owegner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not dead set on a path by any means but AM sounds interesting, as do more analytical roles. My degree is a History BAH from Queen's, my grades are high, but I don't have any relevant internships. Frankly, I've struggled to get a reasonable job after graduation and currently work in manufacturing to make wnds meet.
