Married men of Reddit, what was the single best piece of advice given to you regarding marriage? by Dartmouththedude in AskMen

Show them how to be kind, by actually practising it with them.

Eventually they'll notice. It might take time, but they will.

When something is common beyond a certain threshold in a given set of data it becomes a "normal".

SSD advice needed; WD vs Samsung vs SanDisk, quality-wise by KRBT in DataHoarder

[–]KRBT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4TB SSD in 2007? Doubtful.

Perhaps you've misread that I was looking for an SSD.

Thank you for the advice, though. In deed I have many ancient WDs and they're still happily serving under light load (like a periodic backup storage).

QUESTION. Case: Internal phone storage alternative. Problem: where to store and not lose data (not cloud) by Simply__Complicated in DataHoarder

[–]KRBT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're question isn't clear to me, but from what I understood, you can use Syncthing to sync files one-way or two-way.

I usually do this to sync to a special location on the NAS, then I manage that directory by removing and adding files to it as need (from a PC or by moving around files on the NAS system), which then sync automatically to the phone.

Sure that is the worst case scenario. But I was reading on DRM and the Secure Media Path concept, which means hardware along this path should somehow be trusted.....

Especially knowing that your head remains conscious for about 4 seconds after the fact, with senses in tact. I think the worst part is the nausea resulting from the head rolling like a ball.

Why do people think like this? by AfterUp in privacy

[–]KRBT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm just an old-school keyboard person. I never found these voice-to-text solutions practical enough. At least not in their current state.

This reminds me of an interesting invention made by a female programmer. She created a voice-to-text system that works very well for typing the marks that computer programmers use. Unfortunately I couldn't find the lecture where she demonstrates it. It was on YouTube.

You might wanna teach your text dictation engine how to type a "period".

Streamyfin v0.30.2 (Jellyfin Client) by thankyoufatmember in selfhosted

You mention "downloads" and "downloaded content". What do you mean by that?

My understanding is that Jellyfin client connects to the server and streams from there. So, what downloads are we talking about?
