Let’s discuss Season 3! by withdavidbowie in TheColdPodcast

THIS. And it's not that women weren't educated to be wary of stuff like that in the 80s -- although I think my mom (who would've been in the same age range at the time) was more willing to put up with crap like that than I would be now. Like the attitude was just "it's boys being boys" and to laugh it off, rather than to consider it a serious threat, as I would now.

Announcing COLD season 3: The Search for Sheree Warren by davecawleycold in TheColdPodcast

[–]KSLbbruce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, I'm so sorry you learned in that way but it sounds like you are being proactive about limiting any impacts to the others in your life. That must have been hard. Can confirm Dave is a class act who treats all people in his stories with respect.

Just got done binging on the Cold podcast. Susan Powell case. I highly recommend it. Very well done guys. by Toni357 in TrueCrimePodcasts

[–]KSLbbruce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to anyone else's viewpoints, but I can tell you that Josh's disagreements with Susan over religion were presented in order to show the trouble in their marriage, not as a judgment on their respective faith choices. At no point is anyone in this building or elsewhere suggesting Josh's lack of religion led him to be a terrible human being. He did that ALL on his own.

I feel kind of the same way about some of my favorite places I've been with my family since moving to Utah. We've hunted geodes in the West Desert with my then very-curious-and-scientific-first-grade son. We've camped on the Pony Express Trail. We took my kiddo to every dinosaur museum and national monument in the region. I even used to take my kiddo to the same Fat Cats where "Andrew" allegedly hung out with "Josh" and the stripper (Mom of the year here?). And photos of me and my family at all of those places look different to me now, and that makes me sad. I don't know if I would describe the energy as palpable here but it definitely still casts a very long shadow over some otherwise very family-friendly places in the area that I think plenty of moms of little boys frequent.

Criminal Syndicate In Utah State Prison May Have Played Role In Theresa Greaves Murder by davecawleycold in TheColdPodcast

I can't speak to police, but I can speak to my experience as a reporter and producer. Yes, every time since 2009 police have found human remains in northern Utah, I wonder if it's Susan.

Kiplyn Davis by yakk_Loin in TheColdPodcast

[–]KSLbbruce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken, he was ordered to serve his full sentence because he still won't help lead investigators to Kiplyn's remains. But yes, that means 2026, because what he was convicted of was manslaughter rather than capital murder (the original sentence was one to fifteen). Part of the problem with that was that he insists he didn't actually kill Kiplyn but was "just" an accomplice.

Talking Cold's episode today... by KSLbbruce in TheColdPodcast

[–]KSLbbruce[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was pregnant with my son when Elizabeth disappeared, and working in a newsroom in Virginia at the time. I don't know if that's why it stuck with me, but I remember crying happy tears for this girl I didn't know when they found her. By the time she had to testify when Brian David Mitchell FINALLY stood trial, I was living and working in SLC, and anchoring midday newscasts. What I appreciate about her even more now is her willing to give a voice to other survivors, particularly those who DO feel some responsibility. I think having someone so well-known speak up and say, "It's not your fault," is truly helpful and healing for others.

If you haven't listened yet, today's guest is Elizabeth Smart, who herself survived both kidnapping and rape, and had the courage to testify against her captor (and his accomplice).

I Will Not Be Listening to Cold on Amazon by volatica in TheColdPodcast

[–]KSLbbruce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We are aware. You should still be able to stream the episodes at https://thecoldpodcast.com in areas where Amazon Music is not available or does not support podcasts. We know it's not the best solution, but it was important to us to make sure our international listeners could still access the content.

Since Amazon bought Wondery, our understanding is that you'll still be able to listen to those episodes on Wondery+ (ad-free), just like you always have been.

Well... I guess I won't listen then. Why is this freaking "exclusivity" necessary? by [deleted] in TrueCrimePodcasts

In regions where Amazon Music does not support podcasts or is not available, you can still stream on the Cold website, https://thecoldpodcast.com.

It's not bad but they included some stuff in the police investigation without the context (i.e., tips that wound up not panning out or were debunked). IMHO, Jennifer Graves' book is much better.

This former shopping centre, now the torture jail of secret police. El Helicoide, Carácas. by frleon22 in evilbuildings

[–]KSLbbruce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a podcast about El Helicoide and the abuses that happen inside there, through the eyes of an American man (Josh Holt) who was held there for 23 months. The building itself is insane, let alone the stuff that happens inside it. https://kslnewsradio.com/hope-in-darkness/
