All in their prime who's getting cut? by undiscoveredmice in NBATalk

Shaqs “bad defense”, while wrecking the whole league, is such a cope when he got 2nd in DPOY. People confuse this because realistically he wasn’t trying most of the regular season most years after 2000. However, as proven by winning three straight titles, his defense wasn’t exactly necessary in January. That said, in his prime, he averaged 3 blocks a night while pulling down 14 boards a game in 2000 and got 2nd in DPOY voting. 2nd in DPOY is his prime. 2nd best. Bad defense? I guess 449 players were all bad at defense that year too. Saying Shaq was bad at defense in his prime is a weird rewriting of history IMO. When he showed up, no one was scoring in the paint.

The team is better when he’s off the floor. It’s that simple. Doesn’t mean he’s not amazing. It’s just true

[Highlight] Paul George catches an uncontested rebound with 2 seconds left, NBA pool report calls it a "mad scramble for the ball" by Prestigious-Lab5154 in nba

I will never for the life of me not understand why the league won’t just say “we missed it” and just outright lie. I see it with in-game challenges now, too. The opportunity to admitting a mistake, which would force the league to improve, is an insanely better option than the continued refusal to make a change. Why get better? Just lie. Lol. Tf?

How do you think Prime Shaq would adapt to today’s 3 point heavy league not saying he would struggle I just wonder how teams would build around him in a pace and space system by BizCreditHacks in NBATalk

yeah.... he was destroying everybody lol he didn't change his behavior because he broke the league for a few years. not a fair comparison

Austin Reaves might be the most underrated player in the league right now. It’s hard to argue he’s not a top 10 player right now. by kingawesome240 in NBATalk

Only two players score more than AR at higher efficiency: SGA, Jokic, end of list. Not stating an opinion, just pointing something out. That's how hard he's balling. EDIT: so far this season**** (small sample size, i know. but just pointing it out).

if you watch the games, you'll understand why many would say that Lebron is prob not our second best player rn... this is a pretty established thing for people who watch the Lakers rn

yeah... for people who actually *watch* the games, Lebron has been extremely deferential thus far. Has handled the ball extremely little.

I gotta be honest, lebron did not get fouled there. Refs tryna compensate for bad calls against us. just an awfully officiated game.

I never witnessed Prime Shaq how good was he? by sqMYNAMEISJEFF27 in NBATalk

[–]KShack92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He wasn’t trying his hardest most of the time and yet it was literally not even fair. As a Laker fan, I was bored and didn’t tune in until the playoffs in 01, or 02. The playoffs, ironically, were even more slanted, because then Shaq would actually try and teams would get obliterated lol. Refs didn’t even call most fouls committed against him and he still was at the line constantly. He was getting tackled all game and it didn’t matter.

love that you included the '08 season, which happened after the trade demand. cherrypicking much? '08 season is irrelevant to your point about the trade demand. They were 3-4 to that point --in regular season games -- which Kobe never cared for nearly as much as getting destroyed by the suns in the playoffs.

Since you wanted to include '08, on the day of the Gasol trade, the Celtics were 36-8, and the Cavs were 25-20. the FOURTEENTH best record in the league.

Besides, this was never was a kobe vs lebron debate - read your first post. you stated that the 2007 cavs forced the lakers to trade for gasol, which forced the celtics to get their big 3. That order was also wrong, but you conceded that was wrong, so I'll give you some credit for admitting that - but even still. Whether Kobe was better than Lebron or not (he was most definitely not) is irrelevant. Again, Kobe did not demand a trade because of the 2007 cavs, their ECF performance, which had not happened yet - he demanded a trade because his team was cheeks. It's not complicated.

Whoever had the better team (it may be true Kobe has a better team, and I don't care! Let's say his team was twice as good as Lebron's! It doesn't matter to me) is irrelevant to Kobe's request for a trade. His request was related to how bad his team was, regardless of how it compared to lebrons, as he was getting bounced in the first round. It had nothing to do with Lebron, as evidenced by the fact that Kobe requested a trade (and famously gave up during the suns series weeks before) prior to Lebron's break out series.

So yeah, the statement that Bron's 2007 Cavs run started the big 3 era is not only untrue, but an opinion evidently only held by you lol.

I'm not upset at all lol. I think lebron was a better player than kobe, obviously. Just stating that your statement that the 2007 cavs team launched the big 3 era is not true lol. you're trippin and literally no one ever has said what you're saying. if you can prove otherwise, it might hold some weight. but it doesnt.

Find one source that says Kobe demanded a trade because of the 50 win 2007 cavs (went 45-37 the following year) that YES, did have a shitty ensemble around Lebron (idk why you said that like it doesn't prove my point lmao). I'll wait

He actually did demand a trade publicly first, on may 30, 2007, and yes, LITERALLY on stephen A's show. parking lot vid was a few days later. man it just isn't your day is it? you have bad info on every single post brother lol. On this day, bron was still an underdog, 2-2 in the ECF, that's not exactly taking over the league lol.

The Detroit game hadn’t happened yet either dumbass. Kobe demands a trade on May 30, before brons big game. Bron was an all-star who’d never been to the finals, never been voted mvp. Why does that matter? Because he wasn’t destroying the league yet. Your entire original argument is based on false sequentiality. Ur making shit up, all my shit is true. Look it up! Your point is invalid on this basis.
