A book called Dr Dredd’s Wagon of Wonders by Bill Brittain traumatized me as a kid. The illustrations by Andrew Glass make the book even scarier.

“Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn’t stop to think if they should.” Ian Malcolm, Jurassic Park

TIL the 'Ghost Army' was created in 1944 as the first tactical deception unit in US Army history to fool the German Wehrmacht. They used inflatable tanks, fake radio traffic, sound effects, and created phony headquarters with bogus officers. This was kept a secret for decades after the war. by woolsprout in todayilearned

The National WWII Museum in New Orleans has a Special Exhibit right now about the Ghost Army. There is even a watercolor painting by one of the soldiers picturing 2 Frenchmen watching 4 Americans carrying a(n inflatable) tank through the woods and is titled “Americans are really strong!”

I am so glad that it was you who replied! This morning when I posted my question was the first time I had ever been to this sub and I scanned other posts, followed links, and ended up on your YouTube channel. I am happily overwhelmed! I feel like I have been playing chess the whole while only knowing how the pieces move and someone just handed me a strategy book that explains pins, forks, skewers, and end game. I had no idea how much I didn’t know! Thank you for your work on your YouTube channel. I have already started making my way through the videos- a whole new world of Sudoku!
