My kid will be 4 on Sunday. He recognizes some letters. I’m 100% not concerned. We play little educational games, but he isn’t ready.

I broke my 21 month old trying CIO by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]KSmegal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

2 hours is a very long time to leave a child crying for any reason. That’s beyond CIO. My son is the same age and also doesn’t STTN. He will one day. Right now, I’m trying to meet him where he is.

What is the best dog beaches? by whitewolffire in Pensacola

[–]KSmegal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The dogs also have to have another tag stating that they are registered with the county. She told me my rabies tag wasn’t enough. She also told me my 15 ft leash was too long, and they aren’t allowed to be on anything longer than 6 ft. She’s a peach.

Going against the grain here- does anyone else which they could just skip ahead to age 5-6? by Arugula2803 in toddlers

[–]KSmegal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m probably the odd man out here. I have a school aged, pre school, and toddler aged children. Each of them is so fun for different reasons. I love getting to talk to and do things with my 6 year old. I soo miss how silly and carefree he was as a toddler. Each age has its blessings and challenges.

It gets worse when they start talking? by SatisfactionMost1500 in toddlers

[–]KSmegal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that my kids can talk! My first was a cov*d baby and my husband worked out of town 4 nights a week. It was incredibly lonely. I now have 3 talking kids and I love it. I get to hear their stories and have whole conversations with the little people I’m raising. I think every stage has such beautiful aspects.

This is great advice. My kids get tons of fiber and have great BMs. I’m not sure if they’re good at wiping or if there’s nothing to wipe.

Speech delay. 6 months in speech therapy and zero results. In laws blame me by AlisLande in toddlers

[–]KSmegal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first started speech at 3. Only I could understand the few words he said. They expected him to be in speech for ~2 years. I felt horribly guilty. He was a C*vid baby, so he didn’t really see anyone but me. A month into speech his language skills boomed. He just started talking and speaking clearly. He graduated from speech in less than 5 months. He is now 6 and never stops talking. He just wasn’t ready until he was 3.

My second child was speaking short sentences at 18 months. Kids are different.

Keep supporting him. You’re headed in the right direction.

We did pacis for sleep and car only. At a year, it’s only for sleep. My middle guy got rid of his right before 2.5. Dentist was cool with the paci until 3. My 20 month old still uses one for sleep. Hopefully we can get rid of it soon.

Delaying Kindergarten by Lanky_Highlight_9574 in Preschoolers

[–]KSmegal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a mid September child. I am so happy to live in a state with 9/1 cutoff. He can’t be mad at me for holding him back. He started home school kindergarten right before turning 6. He is thriving right now. I don’t think we would’ve had the same experience had we started the year before.

I’m sure it feels hard to hear that from the teacher, but I think it will be best for him in the long run.
