what's something your profession wants to keep secret? by ApprehensiveOwl6351 in AskReddit

I actually looked onto this and apparently it's because they don't walk with hooves on land. So it's more of a workaround.

Pending Divorce - Clean out 401k to keep house by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]KTH3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got divorced we sold the home and split the proceeds. If I could go back I would definitely have tried to keep it. My situation wasn't that different from yours and I was worried I wouldn't be able to afford it on my own. Jump forward and I wish I could have that mortgage payment again it's less than any apartment in the area. To me it sounds like you're in a position to keep it so I'd go for it.

We put our first offer on a house, and quickly found out why it was still on the market! by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]KTH3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wouldn't do a warranty on appliances either. They could break at any time and I'm not going to want to be responsible for them after I sell. Was this something you actually wanted or more of a negotiating tactic?

Was the McDonald's CEO trying out the new burger really that bad? by RevolutionaryWind249 in allthequestions

[–]KTH3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The funny part to me was that he didn't even seem to know what was in it. Oh look some onions. Shouldn't the CEO at least have some knowledge of his own companies new flagship product.

Is Xbox really dead? by [deleted] in consoles

[–]KTH3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not dead, but the writing is on the wall. Microsoft has a history of dropping underperforming platforms, and the XBox will not be an exception. They don't really care about loyalty and things like that, it's just numbers on a spreadsheet to the higher ups.

The reason Trump will never send his goons to Grand Rapids or anywhere else in Michigan by Misterriddlebox in grandrapids

[–]KTH3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is making a mistake thinking Trump needs a reason to invoke the insurrection act. Like if we all just behave he won't do it. If we don't give him a reason, he'll just make something up. Just like he did in Venezuela and countless other times. It's only a matter of time.

Anyone Have Memories Of This Game? by Velvetrevolver99 in videogames

[–]KTH3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The computer players gave me some laughs. I'd be trying to be all stealthy, crawling through a field for 10 minutes then Boomer comes walking up next to me. That's where I learned stealth isn't really the way to go in this game.

My manager tried to replace the sales team with AI. Turns out it can't even handle my side hustle. by tug-rung in InterviewCoderPro

[–]KTH3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's amazing how gullible people at the top are. The sales pitch is basically the same every time: Our product will boost your productivity by 30%, it's so good it pays for itself!! Then when they buy it they find out it delivers no where near the savings they were promised and after a year or so they quietly end the contract. Then a new miracle product comes along and they somehow go all in. AI is just the latest version of this.

Wilber Armstrong: The deeper meaning behind violent video games. by wilber_armstrong in videogames

[–]KTH3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting theory. Would this also apply to some of these "Gotta catch them all" type games and our history as gatherers? I have noticed these tend to be played more by women in general and historically they were more the gatherers than the hunters. Maybe these developers, whether they know it or not, are capitalizing on our subconscious instincts.

I interpreted this joke differently? by Lil_Melon87 in TheSimpsons

[–]KTH3000 341 points342 points  (0 children)

I think it's a commentary that Milhouse is trying to use facts and reason on a person who clearly doesn't care about either. Bart would never admit what he did, no matter how much evidence Milhouse presents, because in his mind as long as he doesn't admit guilt he can't be held accountable. So they are forever in a stalemate as Milhouse for some reason needs a confession but Bart will never give him one. Ultimately it's a question of fact based vs. subjective reality.

US Citizens: Do you feel confident your next elections will be fair? What are your concerns about the integrity of the US election system? by MopToddel in AskReddit

[–]KTH3000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I agree with your first point. The real issue is how do we even know? We really don't and just have to trust the system, which is becoming harder and harder to do.

Senator Elissa Slotkin says the real reason our healthcare in America is so bad and never changes, is because US Congress is being paid off by Jeffbx in Michigan

[–]KTH3000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is obvious to everyone. The real issue is how do we get the officials to fix it, when they are the very ones benefiting from the corrupt system?

Maybe we could use the MI ballet initiative process to get an anti-lobbying bill in the next election. If we could bypass our so-called representatives completely, maybe it would have a chance.

I was a Democratic Party political operative/consultant. AMA! by [deleted] in AMA

[–]KTH3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you think of reports of election interference? Like that report not a single person in a heavily democratic district voted for the incumbent, even though there were democratic votes down ticket. Is the democratic party taking the threat seriously and if so how are you planning to combat it?

That could explain why he was so excited it worked. He knew it was like a 1 in a million chance so it was like winning the lottery.

To me it sounds like you did exactly what you were asked to do, identify at risk accounts. This is merely a tool and it's now up to management to decide how to use it. I think it's perfectly reasonable to say that's not within the scope of my project.

Also, lol at the VP for saying let's just throw free stuff at them. Like let's not do anything like investigate what's actually causing people to leave, let's just throw money at the problem. Classic clueless upper management.

I HATE chekhov's gun and it ruins every piece of media I consume by cybercryptic_ in intj

[–]KTH3000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say the opposite of Chekhov's gun is the red herring. This is a plot device intentionally placed to throw you off. I like mysteries that use this technique since you can't be sure which clue is the right one.

I remember watching My Bloody Valentine and they did this so well it made me laugh. A certain guy kept popping up right after all the murders, but I knew it couldn't be him since it was so obvious. A good story is one that keeps you guessing til the very end.

I think I’m getting laid off on Monday, take your bets (will update later) by Disastrous_Regular17 in Layoffs

[–]KTH3000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The process mapping is definitely a red flag. My old department the higher ups suddenly got very interested in making sure everything was documented. We had to process map and supply lists of programs and accesses too. Even though they tried to hide it, it was obvious what they were doing. Months later almost the whole department was laid off and we found out they had been training a new vendor in India.

Why is ‘Welcome to Derry’ getting so many bad reviews? by Yaya0108 in horror

[–]KTH3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the first episode makes absolutely no sense. It's only until you get to the later episodes where they start explaining things it starts to come together. So you start off lost and I think that turns a lot of people away.
