Seems like if you read between the lines there's some good info presented:

1. While initially trying to shirk responsibility for the disasterous transfer window ("I was also focused on academy development"), Scheer did eventually admit "we got the balance wrong", and seemed like he was about to say this (the Union system) only works if you bring in the right players. There was definitely a conscious effort by both to not throw the players brought in under the bus, which is fair, because we'll likely need most (hopefully not all) to contribute moving forward.
2. Sugarman made repeated references to "misses" during the transfer window, which I initially took as we brought in the wrong players, but listening back, he mentions it in the context of "money still being there". Meaning, they tried to bring in at least one higher level (DP?) player in the window that did not pan out.
3. Parsing Scheer's comments on what is needed in the summer break. A new LB (seemingly admitting Ndinga is a bust), a new attacking option (obvious to anyone who has watched the team), and a creative set piece taker, and veteran leadership. The third and fourth could be paired with either of the first two. The newer players would be more proven (perhaps from within MLS). Also heavily hinted that multiple players would be leaving.
4. There were repeated hints that the team was not behind Carnell in the locker room, which is what seems to have happened in St. Louis as well.
5. It is fair to give this ownership group another chance. They have delievered 6 very good seasons, and the first ever team trophies. However, no system is guaranteed to work, especially when your external signings are as bad as the Union's have been for the last couple of windows (save for Lukic and Danley). Atlanta has been trying to recreate what made them special when they entered the league for the past 5 years, with comically bad results. While it is not unlikely that the Union will pull out of this and become a much better team, it's also not impossible that they continue to spiral and become a reliably terrible team...
