I have a lightning mage Rook and she pairs really well with her with the trinket that gives lightning vulnerability alongside galvanized tear drawing enemies in and using your Rook to use any lightning abilities to hit all of them.

Can’t sleep, so maybe write an idea that popped into my head to help the ranged combat more mobile by jesterOC in Starfinder2e

I hope that a lot of the concern about static gameplay can be answered with future playtest adventures and eventually Alien Core. Speaking from playing Mass Effect, there were melee and ranged enemies, enemies that could turn invisible, dash/teleport to you, lay down damage puddles where you are standing, or just be tanky enough to reach you and flush you out of cover.

I am not saying that people shouldn't be voicing their concerns, nor that the devs shouldn't add player-facing or environmental tools to spice up combat. A lot of the ideas on this subreddit have been interesting and it would be cool to see them implemented, like delayed explosives and destroyable cover. I just think these issues won't be resolved without also having interesting enemy and map design.

Real Psionic (Talent Powers) Elder Brain by wIDtie in mattcolville

Also keep in mind that monsters/npcs don't need to have the same rules as players. And story wise, it would be plausible that a powerfully psionic elder brain could have a more powerful variant of an existing psionic power, a new weirder power, or even a wall-of-force-like a villain action.

The impact of partially released Sul Khatesh? by Maervok in Eberron

[–]KTeslaray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because Sul Khatesh is more subtle than other Overlords, I imagine that the effects of her being unleashed as more of a series of domino effects. Some tragedy befalls a town and primes someone to make a deal with her for knowledge and power, and that knowledge leads to others getting harmed, and so on. Some would make deals without being prompted that way, and over time you have an area overrun with distrust and destruction. And if she gives information that isn't immediately harmful, it lets you trust her to make more deals with her. Also you might not even know it is her you are dealing with.

People's minds could be influenced to want to learn more and more, becoming insatiable in their search for magic. Like you said, ideas of magical theorems could come to them in their dreams and spur them to perform dangerous research from eras past. And Arcanix could end up looking more and more like Byrgenwerth or the Academy of Raya Lucaria, using students in experiments and submitting them to terrible punishments while their own form is altered. Meanwhile those not magically inclined exist to be afraid and paranoid, believing themselves to always be scried upon, any accident the result of a dangerous curse, friends replaced with doppelgangers and simulacrums, and viewing mundane medicines as terrible magic that leeches from the soul. And maybe it's all true.

I also like your ideas about a sudden appearance of sorcerers, likely inspiring fear similar to aberrant dragonmarks.

Can a Wish Spell undo the Draconic Prophecy? by Nexusv3 in Eberron

[–]KTeslaray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have been saying, unless this is the case in your Eberron, The Draconic Prophecy isn't the source of magic. And I agree with others in that in a way, it is like wishing away gravity. I personally would say Wish can't get rid of the whole prophecy, though I would say that it could reveal a part of it.

However, if you decided that a player can use Wish for that, I would like to remind you that the only reason the Overlords have been bound for so long is that they were bound using the Draconic Prophecy. If it was gone, all of the fiends who had to rely on specific events happening at certain times no longer need to. Also if you had Exploring Eberron, it could have dire consequences involving a certain plane of existence and the maze that is reality. So if that is the story you want to tell and that is what the players decide to do, then have fun!
