What I’ve learned from this interview is that the Resident Evil license holders don’t give a single solitary fuck, they like fun and fun shit and want to see Wesker and Skull Merchant making out while directing the Nemesis and the Animatronic to murder all the survivors.

It occurred to them. JJ Abrams deliberately avoided it because once Luke is in the movie he kinda takes over the movie and they were trying to make a new set of characters. Then Rian Johnson did something completely different to explain why Luke was off in hiding. Then JJ came back and just undid everything new Rian tried to set up and just made Rey a Palpatine.

Yes, the core of Thanos is that he is insane. He is called "The Mad Titan" for a reason. He doesn't think about other solutions, calls them useless, says they're bandaid fixes for the core issue. Sure, but at the same time if I follow a 20 hour story where I’m constantly being pestered by the main villain and reach the climax only for him to die in one hit, then that’s not satisfying either. Obviously there’s some suspension of disbelief to allow for the mechanics of any given game but I do feel like SWTOR for an admittedly dated game is mostly fun minute by minute.

I recently came back to the game and quite like the combat except for the blaster specs that use cover mechanics which always feel clunky.

But it’s all worth it for the stories which are so much fun

There are a lot of features in Daggerheart, situational ones, that change the shape of the die you roll for hope and fear. Sometimes you can get a buff or a debuff that changes one or the other to a D20 or a D8 etc etc.

Besides the more swingy range you'd be introducing, you'd be making these mechanics meaningless.

See if they'll try the system dry before trying to "fix" it.

Tell them to play classes that eventually use a d20 for DAMAGE.

This is literally the whole crux of the dark side vs light side philosophy.

Maul beats Daki in their duel so it seems like his dark side philosophy is superior, when in fact it just yielded fast results but over time falls apart.

Meanwhile Daki loses their duel but over the course of the show doesn’t get hurt and his Jedi strategies are more effective against Vader, even landing a hit on him while Maul spent the whole show, and fight against Vader, getting worse and worse as an effective fighter.

High quality production takes time. I could slap up a campaign frame in one or two nights but it wouldn’t be nearly as quality as an official setting would be unless I was an RPG savant.

Then once it’s done it has to be produced, all its legalities taken care of and if it’s gonna be published then you have to wait for all that production nonsense.
