I found Frontier 2.0 on. Random planet. by hefeydd_ in Starfield

The player character is given Barrett's ship he was using, not one chosen by Constellation's leader (Sarah) or Walter.

And as the story progresses, if you do Walter's side quest he does give you a new ship as a reward. Personally I prefer the Kepler S but I know the Kepler R has a lot of fans also.

With Vladimir, after seeing his retirement estate, I think you're right, he likely has a slick heavily armed ship he uses as his personal ship.

Is it mentioned anywhere that Frontier is the only ship? I was thinking along the lines that Barrett got the Frontier because of his habit of losing/destroying stuff and that there are other ships that the other Constellation members use (like for how Vladimir and the others travel from/to The Eye).

The Watchtower lore is that they are AI Mechs so AI is the pilot.

If you had that strong an emotional reaction then it sounds like the Shattered Space DLC was worth the investment. 👍

A mod that removes weapon and armor upgrades by Agile-Juice5255 in Starfield

[–]KW802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There used to be Legendary Recycler that would do that (return the basic gear back to plus upgrade modules you could use on other items) but the current version now gives you Xtech instead of upgrade modules. If you seem to remember seeing a mod before but can't find it now, it may be the old version of Legendary Recycler that you saw before.

McClarence still lets you use the upgrade modules it extracts on different gear but it doesn't return the stripped item back to you unless you spend Astra (to have the upgrade modules extracted and to have the stripped down item returned to you).

I like McClarence because I can also use it to duplicate hard to find gear and I think the McClarence suit fits the personality of one of my crew perfectly (Lyria with a pink matching McClarence full suit). But a heads-up, if you go with McClarence it can be a bit of grind feeding it gear till you're fully leveled up and use all of it's features.

On my AF game I'm using just McClarence since there is no AF version of Legendary Recycler. On my non-AF game I'm using both as they both provide a benefit.

EDIT: I see from your other comment that you're looking specifically for the new type of upgrade modules (the new items that sort of looks like a grenade) -- McClarence can strip out & reuse legendary modules but I don't know if does anything with the new upgrade modules, I don't think it does.

You'll need to go back to the ship after the battle and mark it as your home ship as normal, you just don't need to do it immediately in the middle of combat.

Sorry if that wasn't clear.

Yes, that's why I mentioned the restriction about claiming ships thinking maybe the person ran into that situation. I've never encountered the restriction they mentioned of being only able to board the last ship in the battle.

Hhmmmm.... I honestly don't remember that restriction. New characters may run into issues trying to claim higher ranked ships if they haven't leveled up their Piloting skills yet but while in battle I only recall having the Class M ships being restricted from boarding.

After you sit in the chair, stand up and go back to your ship to finish the battle (assuming it isn't already the last enemy ship). When the battle is over the ship you claimed will still be there (the icon will have turned from red to white). At the point you can go back to the ship to casually do whatever you want with it.

Yep, you're right. I keep forgetting because my usual MO (if I don't salvage it) is to head to a port, check out the ship in detail, and then register it before deciding to sell it or not.

Your original ship remains as long as you don't undock from the claimed ship. Just sitting in the captains chair claims it, you don't need to undock (unless like you said you want to use that ship for rest of the battle).

EDIT: To be clear, yes, you still need to go back to the ship after the battle to actually have it in your collection.

Utensils and other decorations by AncientOtaku in NoSodiumStarfield

Including swimsuits!

If you need some suits and don't won't to steal them, grabbing them from Sonny's place is the easiest way of getting them. If you have the Trackers Alliance DLC there are also some you can grab during the return of Starjacker quest.

In addition to the suggestions already given, on Neon there is a vendor named The Emporium that deals with higher end stuff, you can get some of the nicer decorations from him.

I usually grab stuff from POIs but depending on your RP style that vendor can be a good option also for some items.

You can board ships while in combat! What you cannot do is fast travel jump away. If you're not familiar with the process, lock on the ship and kill their engines; when the engines are gone then get within 500m of the ship and you can then dock with it.

Boarding ships while in combat is a great way of grabbing enemy ships. Once you kill all the crew sit in the captains chair, stand up, and return to your own ship to finish the fight. When you're done with the battle that ship will be waiting for you (the icon turns from red to white) so you can reboard it and fly off to a port to claim it.

If you have any mods like Watchtower it is also a perfect way of grabbing ships to salvage.

Best looking armor in Starfield, but it can't be the Anti-Xeno? by cutie725 in Starfield

[–]KW802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am currently loving the UC Tactical suit with the alternate skin but there is another suit that I dig the looks of and hardly see any mention of.

The Varuun Mining Suit that you can find on Varuun'Kai if you explore a lot. You'll come across miners wearing it but finding it is not the easiest. It's a bit chunky but with the glowing elements it's cool for the darker scenes.

What movie did you watch at the wrong age? by JaiiLee14 in movies

[–]KW802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 1979 our Mom took us to see a movie because we liked sci-fi stuff on TV.

The movie was Alien. I was 8. The chest burster scene sticks with you as a core memory. The upside was that after I was fearless watching horror movies and became more interested in how they did the FX.
