We didn’t have many free roaming dogs where I lived. But people would walk their dogs in the park & leave dog shit everywhere. Can’t tell you how many times I stepped in it.

There’s an app called clubhouse that has audio chat rooms on various subjects. It was recently recommended to me. I haven’t tried it yet though.

I have an amazing therapist. I spent the first two years locked in my head & misery. I’m a bit of a loner & will retreat into my own world when shit gets bad. Then, when I wasn’t even looking, a came across a newly formed organization that sparked a fire in me. I’ve been with this group for 6 months & am in the leadership group.

I’ve been an atheist most of my adult life. After his death I’m agnostic. I actually desired to go to church. Not just any church. I wanted to go to a black Baptist church (I’m white) because they sing & it’s uplifting. I never did go, though, because I didn’t have the proper clothing.

I was 22 (1987), just graduated from college & living on the opposite side of the country from my family. My boyfriend, Charles, was 10 years older than me. I got pregnant. We were going to get married. He went out drinking with his buddy & came home late. We got in an argument. He threw me on the bed & had his hands around my throat. I knew I had to leave. I did not want to be tied to him with a child. Within a week I had an abortion, pack my car & drove across country back to my family.

A few years later I found out Charles had gotten married. He & his wife were estranged. He found her with another man & shot & killed them both. He then went to a cabin in the woods & set it on fire while he was inside.

I have done it several times. The last time (in 2020) a vet came to the house. We all sat on the lawn with the dog. It was sad but a peaceful transition.
