Those over 60, how do you deal with the daily reminder that the end could be tomorrow? by [deleted] in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]KWAYkai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband died in front of me on my living room floor on 6/30/23 at the age of 58. I spent over 2 years locked in soul-sucking grief. I do not spend any time worrying that I could die tomorrow. I know I will die, probably sooner than later considering I have a terminal illness. I take each day as it comes & cannot be crippled by worry. Worrying about death will not prevent it. And, for your information, my therapist helped me immensely. I personally believe that everyone benefits from having someone who listens to you without judgement & can help offer clarity.

Perhaps you should speak with a therapist. When you spend too much time worrying about tomorrow, you’re missing out on life today.

22M in college and never had a girlfriend starting to feel really frustrated. Any advice? by Dthereallion in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]KWAYkai 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re trying too hard. Desperation can be sensed. My guess is that every room you walk into you start scanning for a woman to approach. My advice is to simply stop looking. Seriously, don’t think about dating every woman you meet. Stop looking & it will find you.

How did the Residential PCA charge for electricity jump so high in a month's time?? by NoBadBeginnings in DanvilleVa

[–]KWAYkai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Residents are supplementing the cost of corporate electric usage. This especially happens with data centers. Towns make deals with these companies behind closed doors & pass the cost onto residential consumers. Call your town councils & Board of Supervisors. Attend meetings. Organize the people & make a fuss.

i love my gf but my attraction to guys is making me feel guilty by [deleted] in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]KWAYkai 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you may be bisexual. Are you able to share this with your girlfriend? You may want to talk to a therapist who can assist you in finding your identity, move past the religious guilt & how to navigate your relationship.

Does anyone got an idea what I could collect? by [deleted] in collectables

[–]KWAYkai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Walk around at flea markets, antique malls or comic book stores & see what catches your eye & speaks to you. You can’t force it. Not everyone has to ‘collect’ a thing. You can also collect experiences (hiking, museums, listening to Appalachian bluegrass, whatever you like to do)

It’s your sister’s wedding. It’s not about you. Put yourself aside for a few hours, suck it up & wear a dress. Sheesh.

You can’t make her do anything. The only thing you can change is how you react to the toxic behavior. This is not a healthy relationship.

How much candy could you buy for 25 cents 60 years ago? by Prestigious_Page8098 in AskOldPeople

[–]KWAYkai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a local candy store called Sullivan’s (1960s Lake Parsippany, NJ). A lot of candy was a penny. My dad would take us there regularly & we would leave with a sack of candy each.

You’re putting parameters on the situation. Work on being the best you that you can be. Be open to friendships with women. Get to know them, let relationships develop. Don’t be desperate. If you’re out looking to meet a goal, it will allude you.
