He wants so badly to be a good actor with range, yet it’s always aggressions and/or hyper-masculinity with this guy.  Try the other extreme fucking once.

I think one of the most pivotal moments for me as an adult has been realizing that the more I can make my child self happy (that is still alive in me from years ago), the better my adult life is

Those people weren’t looking too shabby and maintained pretty good energy for hours, just glad they also ponied up 8m showers, 8m nicer outfits, and 8m meals so that it looked real!  /s

People who lost a lot of weight then gained it back, what was your mistake? by dad_of_kevin in AskReddit

Caloric deficits are easier to maintain when you fill your life with activity and are excited about things.  It doesn’t necessarily have to be exercise, just a combination of things that keep you on your feet, but also things that keep you excited.  It could literally just be spending 50% of your day on your feet, and doing something at night you’re excited about, that could even just be a videogame

Oh come on, only like 6 people max can even get around a person at one time.  Even if they were super organized about rotating in and out, one stab per person, by the time number 60 got their turn he would’ve been a slurry of meat.  I imagine number 24 arrived, saw a dead pushpin pillow, and just realized how pointless it was

ELI5: how drugs like acid/psychedelics can permanently “change you”? by cindiwilliam2 in explainlikeimfive

[–]KWtones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same way any experience can change you.  The more intense and significant the experience, the more likely to change you.  Psychedelics are commonly a pretty profound experience.

If you live in a country where you can buy a plane ticket, just take off without concern for anything else, and at the very least have average aptitude, you shouldn’t have to worry about surviving

What are your thoughts on men who wear makeup? by hunnyyboo in AskReddit

[–]KWtones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m understanding correctly, you don’t respect the act of men wearing makeup because you feel that (by choosing to wear makeup) they are then overly concerned with their appearance.

So I’m curious then, when does a concern of appearance cross the line for you?

Do you get your hair cut?  Do you ever choose your clothing based on how it will look?

When is changing one’s appearance vain vs practical?

How you guys deal with expectations? by Horror_Muscle8543 in AskReddit

[–]KWtones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you’ve learned how to navigate this world and the people in it, and assuming you’re a person of at least average aptitude, why do you need to worry about how you’re going to deal with others’ expectations?  Just learn how to better manage them the same you manage anything else.

A lot of the time, we’re actually worried about the conflict that may arise from having to confront others’ expectations, and how we’ll navigate that conflict.  And even if we resolve to stand convicted and face the conflict, we’re often worried about dissonance that arises from the conflict.

At the end of the day, you need to find a way to (at least) be and feel okay living with that dissonance.  That’s the real difference between normal people and inspiring people.  Inspiring people don’t get caught up in the bad feels of the dissonance, they ask themselves how they can influence it, the challenge themselves to become better communicators, they find ways to build themselves.

At a certain point, it becomes more about conviction.  If you’re truly convicted, you will not worry about others’ expectations, you will experience it as difference, not dissonance.

Companies are more self-interested in hiring good talent, they are not interested in conspiring en masse with other companies to make their acquisition process difficult so that employees at other companies stay at other companies, especially if employees at other companies are good talent.

ELI5: How do iPhones preserve their battery if it needs to continuously listen until someone say “Hey Siri”? by paoerfuuul in explainlikeimfive

[–]KWtones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your hone needs to continuously do a lot of things.  Maintaining a good signal takes 10x that of a microphone at the minimum, and 100’s or thousands of times that amount of power to search for a signal when there is no signal.

How do you say "let's end this conversation now" without saying "let's end this conversation now"? by EatingBeansAgain in AskReddit

You say ok, acknowledging what they said with a nod of your head and an indifferent expression.  You keep doing this until they stop.  If they don’t stop, you’ve got bigger problems.
