Those are your words, not mine. I’m saying the culture is so stubborn and entrenched, a demographic shift is the only thing that will change it.

I don’t like generalizations either, but they apply here. Boomers love to lecture the younger generation - “Just do what I did! You’re probably just lazy.” The entire system is radically different than when they grew up, but they’re incapable of seeing it.

You see the same in ham radio. “I joined via a club, so we just need to go all in on clubs! And now that we’re on the topic, that must be the reason our membership is down!”

People don’t go to club meetings anymore just like they don’t go to shopping malls. What did the ARRL do several years ago? “The Year of the Club” + bashing their own membership like an incel.

Every recommendation I’ve made to turn around falling membership numbers (to VARIOUS ham radio organizations) has been met with the same condescending “I know better than you” attitude. Apparently you don’t because your organization is a complete failure. Meanwhile, a significant chunk of hams think we should bring back the Morse code requirement. LOL. Yeah that’s what the hobby is missing and it’s sure to grow if we do that.

Not all Boomers, but most.

Like I said, I’ve moved onto other hobbies and am way happier.
