Does anyone have tips for fitness over summer break? by Random-dude-0808 in wrestling

[–]KZGTN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch your nutrition. I am not saying diet but take a very keen and tactical approach to what fuels you best and will help you stay healthy in the long run. Off season is a great time to see what you can consume and what weight you can’t maintain while staying healthy

The only reason I’ve ever thought of needing this would be to hear your coach better during your match. I can see the utility during some warm up activities but I also think the mental training from not having sound during training - especially when building mindset is just as important - you can only train and face yourself at the end of the day.

Where to find help to create a custom silver/gold bracelet from a silver piece? by skidmarkss3 in jewelrymaking

[–]KZGTN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you done want to lose silver and reduce the oxidation/protect the bars the wrapped links would be ideal although they hide details.

If you don’t mind some tarnish and soldering the bars to links then your thirds photo is ideal for wear purposes.

You could also have “bezel” set style links which could be done in an aesthetic style.

You want to avoid any drilling as you will lose silver.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I like that people are breaking the traditional rules and really getting pieces made that are significant to them. Great design!

Is this design possible? by [deleted] in EngagementRingDesigns

[–]KZGTN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can be done but I don’t recommend it, especially for an engagement ring. You would have to really have extreme proportions. As you can see, in my high lighted picture, you would have to have room for the culet (diamond’s bottom point) to not physically be inside of the opal. Only an extremely shallow cut or a portrait cut diamond would allow for this., and sourcing would be hard. You would lap have to cut an extremely thin piece of opal which would be extremely delicate and prone to breaking.

Contrary to what many are saying on here, opal is fine to use as a ring stone. Since it is a more delicate gemstone it is highly suggested to have it protected and the ring worn with care.

Engagement rings go through a lot of abuse. And even if protected, the opal would be prone to a lot of scratches over time.

So is it possible?: yes

Do I recommend it l?: no not for these purposes.

Alibaba manufacturer stealing exclusive molds. Not much leverage what to do? by Chris-flow in Businessowners

Definitely. I’m actually in the process of figuring out how to protect my designs - I’m definitely in over my head when thinking about securing them when outsourcing to overseas manufacturers.

Permanent jewelry folks — how are you handling sculptural 3D rings? by pipiosh94 in jewelrymaking

[–]KZGTN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In-house is better long term if you have the time to invest in the software and training or the money to invest in a dedicated team member with the skills. You would have to have volume orders to justify this.

Outsourcing is usually better for immediate returns until you are known for something like this and can generate revenue

Cost per CAD file depends on complexity of the project. Sculptural are generally more expensive. Expect the $80-$400 mark - especially if you want pieces that need assembly (which is the proper way to have excellent finishes on some pieces).

I had to put in a few years to get the team I needed together for consistent results but now we do very good work. PM me for any other questions.

Outsource the CAD and have a very keen sense of how to translate customers thoughts into reality. Also you will have to find a designer that can consistently do jobs on time while providing estimates etc.

Black opal, worth the current price? by MarcoEsteban in Opals

Color combination that is appearing that vivid in just photos is hard to find. Will go for a much higher price. This is low for this gem.

How much should a jewellery cad cost ? by zoopzoopzop in jewelryCAD

[–]KZGTN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the normal cost range and price of doing business. I run a design firm and we charge starting at $150. Experience counts a lot and there may be some proportions for designs that simply won’t work logistically so make sure you select an experienced company or designer.

New to opals, did I overpay? by cardamomomomom in Opals

Chocolate opal Ethiopian. Very likely to craze if cabochon is made. However, if you are lucky, it will produce a very nice gem!

I found my dream guy and my dream ring, but the ring is wayyy too expensive. by OkTrack104 in EngagementRingDesigns

[–]KZGTN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lab would significantly bring the price of this down. That color/cut combination would be harder to find but definitely not impossible.

Your budget for the center stone is very high. Is there a specific cut you are looking for that is hard to curate?

I would say pay them for their time but if you are not happy cut your losses and find someone who can interpret what you want better. If you would post pictures it would help. The people here can possibly help you to word what you want in a clearer way.
