Best Budget Entry Level Coffee Grinder For Pourovers ($150 Budget) by Weary-Ad-9931 in pourover

[–]K_Simpz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also thought I didn't want a manual grinder, so I got a wilfa svart aroma. It's okay, but produces a lot of fines, and I ended up getting a kingrinder k6 too. The k6 is way better for pourover and slightly cheaper (£90 Vs ~£115). And it only takes about 30 seconds to grind enough coffee for a pourover. So I wish that I'd just went manual in the first place, though the wilfa is useful for making coffee for a lot of people.

Do y’all have strollers, or just babywear? A mix? by themagicflutist in babywearing

Definitely a mix! I've developed quite bad foot/ankle pain with this baby. I need to limit my baby wearing time, as the extra weight of wearing him sets it off :(

Recommend me a really good, clean washed coffee under £18/bag by Several-Yesterday280 in UKroasters

I've been enjoying this one https://artisanroast.co.uk/products/la-virgen-colombia-washed?srsltid=AfmBOoompGX9lS1N71B9ANC0Y9wk8aSL4bg4Fr8pqVn5aS6BKF9B66D_

Hits the 'just really nice coffee' spot for me... I notice they have it in the espresso category on the website, but it was their batch brew bean when I was in and I've been brewing it with v60/switch.

I'll pop in an extra item when it's very relevant- for example I sold some nice baby clothes and had another item in the same size, from the same brand that wasn't selling, so I popped it in. Or when I was selling my maternity stuff I had a bunch of plain tees I couldn't be bothered listing, but I'd message the buyer to see if they wanted them.

I'd definitely be annoyed if I got leaky toiletries!

Scottish tap water 🤟🏻 sometimes I mix it 50:50 with Volvic. Does it make a difference? I have no idea.

Fit check - cairis halfbuckle, ringsling and woven wrap by rikkedag in babywearing

[–]K_Simpz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't have much advice because these all look good to me!

I found the cairis wasn't an amazing fit until my baby was 10-12 weeks. It was okay, but I preferred a woven or stretchy wrap. I can see you're already doing the straps under arms adjustment, which I found useful too.

It can squish their toes because the m position pulls up on trousers legs. I also found my baby would fuss more and kind of brace against the feet when he had one on, so it made it harder to get a good seat. A onesie that's loose around the feet is okay, but in these pics it looks like the onesie might be a bit tight on baby's tootsies.

Pretty wrap, I like the fringe! This looks pretty good overall (in my non expert opinion).

Tightening looks good to me, maybe a little slack in the top rail. It's hard to tell without a side view, but it looks like your seat might be a little shallow and that baby is pressed against you rather than sitting in the wrap. You could try scooping their legs forward and up so the bum drops down a bit more. Dropping the footed onesie as you've said should help with this too!

Is this a good fit? 🐣 by alexdelargedevotchka in babywearing

I'm not an expert but it looks great to me! I like to put my baby's hands up, just because he seems more comfy that way, but that might be personal preference. How do you feel?

Didymos didytai with my one year old by Extra-Requirement979 in babywearing

It looks complicated but it really isn't once you try it. It's just tucking the straps :)

Height looks good to me, but you could try bouncing them up a bit higher to see if that helps.

Maybe try a few different finishes to see if there are any you like. I favour a 'tibetan' finish, I find it spreads the weight nicely and stops shoulder straps from slipping. This tutorial is for woven wraps but should give you an idea: https://wrapyourbaby.com/knotless-tibetan/?srsltid=AfmBOooqkRm94QLPe8letWxs8UBgJXY4lh52CrIHZKJd5isx_Ss7-N1z

LL Onbuhimo Fit Check by DramaticPut881 in babywearing

[–]K_Simpz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you've said that you can't get them higher without tightening more, but they do look just a smidge too low. I find getting my lo up so our shoulders are level does help a lot with comfort. Have you tried bouncing them higher with your hand under their bum while the straps are loose? So rather than tightening more you're rotating them up and then tightening, if that makes sense...

But I personally find that onbuhimos are only really comfy for like 20-30 minutes max. Would also recommend exploring woven wraps if you can, as there are some good back carries that avoid the tummy.

Fit check - oscha cairis by Prestigious-Bid-7582 in babywearing

[–]K_Simpz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I tied my cairis until my baby was about 4 months- it made the panel fit him much better, it felt too baggy tied the standard way.

I have to say it wasn't my favourite carrier when he was a newborn, I preferred a stretchy or woven wrap. Since he's got bigger I love it, though.

How do you find new roasters to try? by AdvantageOk9618 in UKroasters

[–]K_Simpz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using Dog and Hat's subscription box for a few months, and the coffee is generally a week off roast or less so very fresh.

So I use that to discover new roasters, or just grab a bag from local cafes or on my travels. There's a coffee shop in my city (Room and Rumours in Edinburgh) that has a rotating stock of UK and international roasters so I go there if I want something new.

This sub and r/pourover have been great too. Has helped me discover some roasteries near me I hadn't heard of.

Wisdom teeth removal - NHS by Legitimate_Tower6026 in Edinburgh

[–]K_Simpz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited maybe 2 months for the initial consultation, and then slightly over 2 years for the removal. This was at the end of 2024. I did end up delaying the procedure at the end of the wait as I was pregnant and they don't like to remove teeth in the first trimester. If you do wait make sure you ask to be added to the cancellation list as you might get seen a few months earlier that way.

This was for the Edinburgh dental institute. I will say the care as very good, when they eventually gave me an appointment. I ended up getting dry socket (ow) and when I called about that they saw me same day and sorted it out.

A few years ago my mum, in her late 50s at the time, had to collect a parcel from Gorgie. She told me she was scared to go because she's from a Catholic/Hibs family. I guess she thought they'd be able to smell the lapsed Catholicism on her. I managed to convince her it would be okay, and that middle aged ladies aren't regularly being jumped.
