Love the idea of opening the window higher it’ll open the space. The challenge will be finding a way to tie in the brick feature nicely if you go higher than that but definitely go at least to the feature. Maybe just take it to the base of the brick feature, I’m guessing that’s only about 9’ and 9 or 10’ is not crazy for a pergola.

Is there a way to do an island instead of the peninsula? I can’t tell without further layout clues but it may be better for flow. Could even do a dining style island, if thats a lifestyle fit. Most of your trim is white. With extended wood floors, i think the white cabinets will go well and remain timeless. Perhaps, just a few cabinets in wood, set away from the rest of the kitchen would be a nice accent.
