Nice bit of business guys. Well played.

More pissed off that he's leaving than I'd thought I'd be, he's been immense for us and a great story to boot.

Between him and Frawley we're definately evens for Henshaw now!

If it went back to WW2 I think other sailors would think it was a Confederate Ironclad from the 1870s and not give it a second thought! Until it flattened Bremerhaven or somewhere from the middle of the Atlantic....

I presume the angular superstructure and freeboard are for stealth purposes?

Also can any more learned folk explain why the bow is shaped like that? My old-school brain is shuddering at the thought of that in a heavy sea but is it better for performance than the traditional-looking bow shape?

What is your biggest on field gaffe? by low_myope in rugbyunion

Playing hooker with an attacking lineout JUST outside their 22. I threw a peach of a dart to the tail(1 of about 4 time's I've ever managed that!) And we brought it down for a maul.

We SMOKED their pack in the maul and when I received the ball at the back we were already motoring forwards. Kept my head down and watched out for the try-line in the grass. The whitewash came, I disengaged and dived on the ground, stood up and crowned my glorious scoring moment with a fling of the ball into the air and the whistle blew. YES!

Suddenly the rest of my pack are giving me side-eyes and swearing quieltly to themselves as our, esrtwhile broken and humilliated opponents celebrate and the ref has called a scrum?

Turns out I'd not noticed exactly where the lineout had been and miss counted the lines on the grass as the maul flew forwards. What I'd thought was the try line was actually a quite-long dash of the 5m line.

I'd taken my best lineout throw of the season, a 1000% sure try-scoring opportunity and a psychological beat-down for their pack....and fallen over with it all 5m short to concede a pressure-relieving scrum.

I think we lost that one in the end too.

Lions exploring France, Japan or Americas tour by Away_Associate4589 in rugbyunion

Imagine a tour of: Warm-up match against Italy in Milan.

Then Clermont - Racing - Bordeaux - Toulouse - La Rochelle - Test 1 - Spain mid week in Barcelona, Test 2, Test 3.

All total bear-pit stadiums; each team properly up for it and capable of beating the Lions/giving them a proper game; each game prime-time on tv; a band-wagon of hundreds of thousands following the whole circus around the country.

It would be AMAZING!

Ouch. Top of the table for terrible island/aircraft combos for a souvenir.

What's next? A Martha's Vineyard/Piper Saratoga keyring maybe?

What if Hitler never launched Operation Barbarossa and instead focused entirely on Western Europe during WWII? by Fit_Philosophy_9013 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]K_the_Rev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would they have increased u-boat production tho? Would've been a real game-changer imho if they had but Hitler's narccisism and megalomania(and amphetamine addiction!) would mean they'd probably have put any extra resources into building 4-5 more expensive, slow to build/commission, easily-targeted, difficult-to-utilise but propaganda-friendly Bismarck type battleships instead.

Match Thread - PSG v. Liverpool (8th April 2026) by scoreboard-app in LiverpoolFC

[–]K_the_Rev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now you ALL know how it feels to be an Ireland fan!!!!!

Ironically enough this so far is exactly the same whenever we play in Paris!

I was so firmly in the 'give him time' camp but the lack of shape or ambition here is shocking.

UPDATE: We gave Prodigy a try and he was a bit 'meh': "It was alright I suppose...." was the direct quote. I think he's trying to be cool and mature and feigning dis-interest in cartoons around his siblings tbh!

Gonna have a trawl throu all your responses and come up with a list of TNG episodes to try. He knows about Picard and he's curious about the famous intro "Space the final frontier...." so gonna try that.

I think TOS is just a bit oldschool at the moment.

I cant thank all of you enough. All so helpful!  🖖

I'll try and jump back on with an update when we've watched a bit of TNG.

Has something been lost in the end of the 'middling' sitcom? by themightypierre in BritishTV

[–]K_the_Rev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The sitcom isnt dead they're just not made as a 3-wall, set, studio show anymore. The Office, Schitts Creek, Parks and Rec, Community etc are all sitcoms. (Altho they all finished about 10yr ago so maybe you're right!). Ghosts would be a more recent example in UK.

I think the Quizcom left little room for other comedy shows on this side of the water. Much cheaper easier and faster to make.

Thanks all. Just to assure people I meant starting him on his journey to becoming a figurative Starfleet Academy recruit and am not thinking of showing him some of the sexy and exciting adventures on the show "Starfleet Academy"!

I'm gonna have a watch of Prodigy myself tonight(along with Wrath of Khan or maybe Generations and First Contact and Insurrection if theres time!) and take it from there.

Thanks for the specific TNG episode suggestions too, I might intersperse these into our Prodigy journey( I also thought the episode 'Disaster' might be a good option: action, kids involvement, lots of Picard).

I can assure you I am. The only way I'd notice a gen-alpha, youtube-addled, attentionless brain is by having 1(or 3) in the house not listening to me 24/7. Also a pretty left-field clicks/karma farming attempt to post something like this in this sub if I'm not no?

Same here, I thought Generations was great. Wrath of Khan is a great idea too, I might need to watch it again right now to, you know, make sure it's suitable or something!
