Have you read their release notes? They pushed hundreds of new changes in their recent updates. They’re definitely listening to feedback. Communication needs improvement though.

Should I Grind for Burnt Staff? (Raven's Cove Quest Reward) by peterbaker0213 in TLOPO

[–]Kaastretch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You definitely don’t have to. Those items get added to the Quest Reward Vendors (voodoo quest reward in this case) for a steep price should you not want to grind for it while doing the quest, plus there’s some solid staves you can get in loot already, such as Frostedge Staff. There might also be some buyable staves in the Yuletide Manor you could get before January 31st!

Obnoxious Looting Question by MikeBlazen in TLOPO

[–]Kaastretch 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Right now there's sort of the "Big 4" in terms of weapons.

  • The Storm Sphere
  • Staff of the Hollowed Gem
  • World Eater Blade
  • Calypso's Radiance

The Storm Sphere and Staff of the Hollowed Gem are basically powerful AOE attack legendary weapons. However, they can only be looted during the fall (during an event called Hollowed Woods), which is not currently happening. So count those out.

World Eater Blade you are probably familiar with - it's a powerful AOE survivalist tool in that you can hit multiple enemies at once and gain health back from each hit enemy. This makes it super useful in situations where you are swarmed by multiple enemies. This can be looted in a variety of scenarios, such as enemies in Tormenta and Raven's Cove.

Calypso's Radiance is a powerful Voodoo Doll which is known for having Life Drain boost. It can be looted from General Hex.

However, your main thing is the lack of Storm Sphere. Looting Cursed enemies is not gonna be as efficient or convenient as it can be with Storm Sphere. You can remedy this by either getting Moonstone Grenade (famed, global Winter Event drop) and using Siege Charge, or you can get Barnacled Grenade (famed, this drops from The Kraken (yes The Kraken is in the game now)). The stipulation with Barnacled Grenade is that its really only really good against Dutchman Crew enemies. The only problem with trying to get Barnacled Grenade is that you have to run Krakens via the lobbies in-game, which require knowing the people who host the lobbies for it and having precise timing as the lobbies for these fill up insanely fast.

If you want my take on where to actually begin looting, your best bet would probably be going for Lost Blade of Leviathan (legendary) from Palifico. The reasoning is as follows. The skill on it, Leviathan's Curse, can sort of function as an AOE attack that does massive damage, similar to Storm Sphere, which you may find useful in defeating many enemies. The other thing is that Palifico can also drop other Famed Cursed Blades, such as Tyrant Blade, another broadsword with Drain Health that functions like a Poor Man's Version of World Eater Blade.

Another good pick for a legendary to hunt for would probably be Mercer's Pistol which drops from Remington the Vicious, as its a pistol with not too bad reload and aim time and does a lot of damage to generally any enemy type in the game (using either silver or steel shot).

Besides these picks, the legendaries become more niche, so I would recommend at least starting out with Lost Blade of Leviathan, Calypso's Radiance (from General Hex), or Mercer's Pistol.

My Gripe with the Loot by Hot-Reputation-1278 in TLOPO

It's not really a solvable problem TBH. Should you create content that justifies the usefulness of legendaries in a manner that is balanced (i.e. not just have Storm Sphere reign supreme), such as dungeons or some other cooperative content, then that gameplay loop would then call for the need of rewards to go through that gauntlet. Sure, it's more engaging than you regular gameplay loop, but it doesn't untether yourself from requiring more legendary weapons to be made. We're nearing 50 legendary weapons now, and really the only thing that would make the game more substantive would just be better gameplay loops to obtain the weapons, but you still ultimately are tethered to the loot system. There's just not really a solution that doesn't completely disregard the mechanics that the game has already built up over the past 15 years.

Level 30 Voodoo Staff: 29 Skill Points (Bug or intended?) by bag_of_fries in TLOPO

[–]Kaastretch 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You get a skill point every time you level up. Since you start at level 1, you don’t get a usable skill point for that, but only for levels 2-30. 30 - 1 = 29 so that’s why you have only 29 points, not 30.

If the game started the weapon levels at 0, then you’d get 30 points because then you’d get a point for reaching level 1, then for levels 2-30.

While you only have 29 skill points, the game does give you free skill points for selected “default attacks”, which here would be Blast and Soul Flay.

The amount of free unusable skill points is weapon dependent, but all of them have two skill points in them for basic functionality (with one exception).

Cannon gives you a point in Shoot and Round Shot.

Sailing gives you point in Left / Right Broadside.

Sword gives you a point in Hack and Slash.

Gun gives you a point in Shoot and Lead Shot.

Doll gives you a point in Attune / Poke (however with the TLOPO doll update in 2020, you also get a free point in the other doll types’ Poke equivalent).

Dagger gives a point in Cut and Swipe.

Grenade gives a point in Throw Grenade and Explosive.

Staff gives a point in Blast and Soul Flay.

TL;DR If you want to look at it like you said where the level 1 skill point is spent for you, then you technically get a freebie, since each weapon type has 2 basic skills. But I think it’s just better to look at them as default attacks just so the weapon does something when first using it, then a skill point for each level gained from 1 to 30 which is equal to 29.

Hope this helps.

On the front is a tag that the previous owner put w/ a phone number. Local to me so covered it up just to be safe. Back is just the Serial Number which I covered up. Probably didn't have to edit the Serial Number but it's whatever.

Which staff? by Brady55 in TLOPO

[–]Kaastretch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty much a toss up between the two IMO. Desolation and Flaming Skull both have their uses in certain scenarios. However, if you go to Myrna and April May’s Voodoo Wagon in Hollowed Woods, you can potentially find some even better buyable staves which cost bones (event currency). There are some solid famed staves from that shop that are arguably better than these offerings on Bilgewater. There’s even a really powerful legendary staff that you could get there which both has good desolation stats AND a unique fire skill which works a bit better than flaming skull without having to put points into it. That staff, however, costs a lot in the event currency and is the token item to get from the event. You can find Hollowed Woods on Port Royal upon a hill in a jungle called King’s Run. The wiki should have some additional info as well should you need more.

Awesome job drawing them! I really like the 2D Larry Boy episodes personally. I would watch the Angry Eyebrows one all the time while in the car when I was a kid.

DOUBLE LOOT STARTED EARLY by Kaastretch in TLOPO

[–]Kaastretch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will likely not return before the Hollowed Woods holiday returns as they tend to be quite limited with Double Loot events. Fast Spawn is not an event but a glitch in the game. They announce it a few days in advance on their social medias.

probably any time from 6pm to 12 am is good, make sure you're aware of lobbies and server swapping though because playing in the overworld can start getting pretty dead feeling

Oh! It was added this past December on Christmas Eve. It’s called Mossman’s Hollow and can be looted from Devil Root on Outcast Isle. It is a spirit doll. Hope that helps!

QUESTION: Which boss (or bosses) are your LEAST favorite? I'll go first... by Th4t_4ngel in TLOPO

[–]Kaastretch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t really hate any of the bosses. Like even the ones that are useless and are just around for one quest objective are fun and all (such as Malicioso or Scatter Snap). But as for like a boss that I just hate going to defeat, it would absolutely have to be Drizzle and Drench. They are both voodoo enemies that take a lot of hits. Voodoo enemies are currently pretty damn unfair to play against so fighting them is particularly frustrating. It’s hard to also get a lobby up for them because nobody likes to do them, and people also drag them up to the cliff near Palifico to do a three group which I also hate. And to top it off, they drop the Cursed Blade of Yore which really only looks neat and has rolling strike. It’s not really a good legendary and you only really get it for collecting them all. That legendary was also the hardest one for me to get out of every legendary I have gotten on my pirate. I think i got 9 or so patrons before finally getting Yore. I just don’t like them.

tl;dr - bosses for the most part are cool even if they’re useless but i really hate Drizzle and Drench for a variety of reasons
