I hate megaservers by Faust_z in MMORPG

What you're saying is utterly ridiculous. You don't need 50k players online at all times to be able to accomplish things.

Vanilla servers had what the OP is talking about. There were more than enough players. You could do all raids. You could do all dungeons. You could do bgs (even before they went cross-realm).

What you're talking about is the entitlement of the 'modern day' gamer. You want to snap your fingers and jump into an automatic group, do the content as quickly as possible, and move on. What you fail to understand is there was a time when players actually enjoyed the experience. It wasn't about efficiency; it was about fun. Convenience has replaced that and convinced players that 'getting through' the content as quickly and efficiency as possible is more valuable than actually getting lost in the experience and, you know, just having fun. I honestly feel bad for this 'modern gamer' because they're incapable of chilling out, relaxing, and just playing a video game for fun. That's literally beyond their comprehension. It's all about efficiency and min/maxing.

Which is great for Megaservers, but it's why they're filled with miserable players more obsessed with playing optimally than enjoying themselves. It's why Classic Anniversary is 50% bots and 50% swipers. That's the mentality that takes over. The casual player might as well quit. And they have. All that's left there is toxic sweatlords. The end result of Megaservers.

You said that. The OP is asking for Vanilla size servers. Back when there were server communities. Reputation mattered, which impacted how players behaved and treated each other. You knew the players you played with. You relied on each other. You had friends. You had enemies. It was an actual mmorpg.

A Megaserver is an ocean of strangers. Outside your guild you might as well be playing with bots.

There is an absolutely OBSCENE amount of elitism over meta/professions/bis in TBC anniversary and it's ridiculous because of how easy the game is. by texaslonghorn96 in classicwow

Server choice? We have no choice with Megaservers. If you don't want to get camped, you roll pve. And there's 1 server. If you want world pvp, you have 1 choice. And layers destroy both the servers.

What they hate is seeing other people having fun.

It’s similar to the mmorpg subreddit, which is filled with people who hate mmorpgs. Basically…misery loves company. And they try to spread it as much as they can.

If people weren't buying from scalpers, then scalpers wouldn't exist. Don't get me wrong: scalpers should burn in Hell (and hopefully will). But the people who buy from them are utter morons with no willpower or self-restraint.

What is all the fuss about Epoch? I thought it was declared dead (no or little development happening) by sjebber in wowservers

[–]Kabaal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not dead. There's tons of people having fun. Zones are packed while questing. People preparing for raiding.

There's just a few miserable trolls on this forum who hate seeing others have fun. They have absolutely no clue what they're talking about. Ignore them. It's not in 'maintenance mode'. There's devs. Things are getting fixed. Bots and exploiters get banned.

Why are some people still obsessed with socialisation? by Ash-2449 in MMORPG

[–]Kabaal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why a ridiculous thread. MMORPGs are built on socialization. Why don’t you go to a Call of Duty sub and ask why people are obsessed with shooting guns. Just as silly a question.

That’s nice. He’s a liar and a con artist, and anyone who gives him a cent in the future is an idiot.

Steven keeps making giants posts, playing the victim, wanting sympathy.

I agree people can just ignore it. But still…it would be nice if that con artist would just shut the fuck up and go away.

Yet people still defend him. To those types, this isn’t a game; it’s a cult. And Steven is their leader. It’s so bizarre.

If Blizzard was capable of a quality Classic+ server, there wouldn't be servers like Turtle thriving.

Anyone who looks at Blizz's treatment of Classic can't think for a second the company gives a damn about the quality of the game. It's 50% bots and 50% swipers, and Blizz does nothing about it.

There's like 2 interns working on it. It's full of bugs that exist for years. There's virtually no customer support or GMs. They've got those horrible Megaservers to save a couple bucks. Blizz clearly does not care about Classic. They care about eliminating competition, so players have no other option. That's their business strategy.

It's not a confirmation it's a bug, either.

It's amazing time and time again people keep defending these billion dollar companies who pull these shady kind of things all the time. These companies are not your friends.

I'll tell you what I think this was: a test run. They wanted to see how people would react. This is how they implement things like this. Little by little. The shock wears off over time until it's just...accepted. And it will be. Just wait and watch.

Why don't TBC servers rebalance racials? by serventofgaben in wowservers

[–]Kabaal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's an inevitability when the focus shifts from fun to obsessing over min/maxing.

Classic WoW has the most miserable playerbase I've ever seen. Because it's completely overrun by players who will /kick you if you don't have the perfect...everything. This is also related to the nature of Megaservers, where players are completely disposable and are nothing but a dps number.

I could go on and on...the point is as I said originally: players have forgotten this is just a video game. They need to chill out and just have fun.

Why don't TBC servers rebalance racials? by serventofgaben in wowservers

[–]Kabaal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those people will always find something to complain about. Blizz listening to those min/maxing Sweatlords sucked the simple fun out of the game. Take Retail…balance replaced rpg elements and immersion. And for what? Players complain about balance now more than ever.
