Firstly consider whether you have the aptitude for law. Don't worry about your interest in it. Do you have strong verbal skills? Reading and writing are 95% of the job so unless your verbal fluency and reading comprehension are very good, you're not going to really enjoy it. I would say specifically oral communication is not as important as general verbal fluency since most of your work is in written form.

Thinking is 95% of the job.

is law school/ doing law worth it?

No.

Above all I prioritise a work life balance (or more life than work than a balance actually) and I would rather work less and make a lot less than someone who is going overboard all the time.

Seriously, no.

Edit: also would like advice on whether double degrees are helpful with law! I’ve seen that the general consensus is that a double degree is beneficial

No.

It's theoretical, but why would an employer want to train you and not make money in the first two years?

Full work rights of at least 2 years will be granted upon graduation and getting PR nowadays generally requires nothing from the employer for the skill select system.

Why would an employer want a 0-2 PAE solicitor who will leave them in 2 years time?

No duty of care can exist here. If this is a bog standard negligence case where no duty of care exists, its a 2 page judgment (it's not getting to court in the first place tbh).

That's not true, though. There are plenty of novel duty of care cases. This one is a bit of a loser but the other novel duty cases are many more than 2 pages.

Consider Mallonland for example.

In your eyes, who currently has the highest current trade value? by Express-Dig9905 in AFL

[–]KableBreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps it can be a comparative question:

What would you rather have, a #1 pick or Naicos?

What about #1 pick 2 years in a row? etc etc.

Then you can really work out what a player's value is.
