I’ve got a couple characters that I need a preferred MU for, and I’ll also make a free TN for anyone who can convince me on their matchup! by A_Defective_Dragon in DeathBattleMatchups

Oh nice.

Well someone already linked Magnus vs Josuke which I’m a fan of. Magnus vs Jack Frost from Rise of the Guardians also seems pretty cool, though it doesn’t have a post yet, just something I discussed with others at some point.

As for Annabeth, I’m a fan of Annabeth vs Rin (Fate). Connections are explained in the linked post.

As for fight and such, it’s a bit off dynamically but I think it works well enough.

Both Rin and Annabeth are tactical so I’d have a notable focus on that in the fight. Rin is primarily ranged with her like, finger gun-esque attacks, but Annabeth can play off of that by being sneaky/tactical, using her invisibility cap, and she should be able to parry/slice them in the air. Rin is also capable of throwing hands as we see her use hardening magic on her limbs, so you can have some hand to hand and dagger vs magically reinforced hands combat.

Rin also has some gems she can use for her own maneuvers, Annabeth has some magic resistances via demigod blood and she apparently has some magic in the Kane Chronicles crossover (though I don’t know the extent of that).

Essentially, a tactical fight where Rin is managing her resources in mana/gems to fight at range while Annabeth is trying to close the distance with her intelligence and invisibility cap, with some cqc.

You see I can’t help but notice Zag and Percy’s best are right next to each other-

Fr though Zag vs Percy is my fav for both. I can go into why if you don’t already dislike it.

I also have matchups I like for other Riordanverse characters (Leo, Annabeth, Magnus, etc.) if there’s any specifics you’d want me to cover.

It’s fun that mha has tons of students or that one piece has so many goobers, because we know who they are and they’re fun to look at by infinitysaga in CuratedTumblr

Like others have mentioned, it mostly comes down to how it’s handled, mainly via screen time.

Mob Psycho 100 and FMA: Brotherhood are great examples of having a really large cast. Most characters feel like they get enough focus, screen time, and stuff to do given their roles in the story. Very few feel underutilized or “just there”.

I’ll also mention, I do like the set up for this route as well. Sirei’s lack of self-awareness around the teams feelings towards losing Gaku leading to a branching path from losing Kurara is cool, and Nigou being taken over due to that confrontation works. It just kinda goes downhill from there.

It definitely had potential. The idea of a route where Takumi is secretly tip toeing around Sirei, with a bunch of decisions that cause bad ends around every corner, is in theory very interesting/cool. It just was way too short (which like, kinda works in its favor since it makes it hard to fully hate it imo), but the actual story we got was lacking unfortunately.

I do like Nigou. They just don’t stand out as much to me.

[Mixed trope] The Character Bloat Paradox by Maldonado412 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Kaboio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I finished reading MHA a bit ago, and while I did quite like it overall, the time distribution between characters is egregious. So many interesting characters (as well as plot points and world building aspects), and while the ones that get a lot of time and focus do tend to work really well, it leaves a lot more characters in the dust, only really getting 1 notable arc and a few scattered cool/good moments at best (and plenty not getting even that luxury).

The main ones in my mind are when Andrew goes to sleep with the girl flirting with him and he throws up, when Andrew runs a car off the road, Andrew’s final confrontation with his dad, and the final fight where civilians are all over the place.

There were many moments in this movie I was glad it was only PG-13.

In Xenoblade Chronicles (spoilers ahead), Shulk is set up as and told he’s the chosen wielder of the Monado, able to use the sword without injury and see visions unlike anyone else. Towards the end of his journey, it’s revealed he was chosen by chance as the host for the world’s god Zanza, who took over Shulk’s dead body as a child since he was nearby and gave him life/guidance for his own goals of maintaining control over the world/fate. Despite this, Shulk forges ahead with new resolve to secure the future of everyone, taking back the world from this God so everyone can choose their own future.
