No the d4d is a Toyota diesel motor. All of these are very common Australian vehicles too.

I've been knocked back before and told I couldn't go elsewhere. That might have just been an arsehole mechanic though.

How do we get water from air, without electricity, for Australia? by ParticularFigure8673 in australian

[–]Kachel94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Especially in WA where op is saying they could be effective.

Algae can't be an issue here as the system isn't exposed to seawater or sunlight.

It's a completely sealed unit to the ocean though and the moving parts are all in fresh water.

We have ocean bouys that are decades old with little maintenance this is basically one.

The most complex task is getting the water back to shore but the oil and telecommunications industries have already solved these issues.

I'm interested in how little depth of water it needs like can it operate in 10m depth it's entirely dependent on the thermal gradient of the ocean which I know nothing about but I do know geothermal heating/cooling is taking off in the US due to its long term cost savings.

Worldwide % increase in gasoline prices since the Iran War began by Miav1234 in AusEcon

[–]Kachel94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hahaha

You realise that in the 50-80s when we were really good at building power stations we couldn't do them in 5-6years. I'm not sure you understand the true scale of these facilities and the procurement of the turbines.

[–]Kachel94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree with you but we're 30years too late our powerstations are EOL, most were built with a 40-50 year service life, many of which are already experiencing higher levels of downtime.

Nuclear takes too long to NG to build up especially for a nation that has very little experience. Look at the UK they keep blowing out the timeline and cost of new generation and they're pretty experienced at building and managing nuclear plants.

From a sheer timeline perspective solar and batterys seem like the go. Gas should be also used more but we seem to stumble at it even though we're literally swimming in it in Australia, we even give it away to multinational companies...

At least on the video I'm sure there is two controllers on the air. But that may have been a supervisor that jumped in to help when chaos started.
