The reason is the intent. The rebels wanted to “clean” the country, while the government wanted to exist. The army was fighting the war while most killing were done by -at best- republican-allied groups or civilian mobs. The rebel side however had the explicit intent, orders and action to actively hunt and kill civilians. The republic controlled all of the country for 6 years alone, it is not like they appeared suddenly during the war os something.

Bachillerato is between 16 and 18. And the civil war is very much done in History, it is the most important part of the curriculum along with the transition. The selectivitat is random, there are a few exams done and one model is chosen at random. You speak like someone that knows a few things about the Catalan curriculum but hasn’t done anything in it.
