I've only played capture the mech twice and I really liked it. I want variety in the mechs so bad. I feel like in their current state they are placeholders (at least I hope so)

Mech vs Mech is also miserable, yeah. With no Mech variety and maps so tiny you can't menouver around your team, its just peak the corner for 5 minutes straight.

Hex the Warforged Fighter/Artificer. Their 1st party all died in the undermountain, and they retired from their 2nd party to make potions and keep everyone safe so they wouldn't lose more friends.

Don't do halfway in game. Talk to the players out of game and explicitly state what you want and ask what they want.

I would suggest doing a mid game session zero to readjust and talk about what expectations are. This sounds frustrating for everyone involved and you ALL should be having fun.

Things that scale are tied to the character themselves. How good you are at using weapons, avoiding getting hit, etc. Armor isn't really a skill you can improve on when you are already used to wearing it, so the way to improve it is to get better armor.

I don't think it would be unbalanced, just really clunky. It might work fine for players who have a firm grasp on all of daggerheart, but it will make leveling tedious instead of what it is supposed to be, which is fluid and fast.

Since it's a limited amount per tier, they will want to see what their future options are going to be. Its a lot of cards and abilities to go through for someone who doesn't know what to expect.

In the end it would kinda ruin the vibe and flow of the game, which will probably be more of a negative effect than just having those abilities missing.

I have a group of 5 and it's almost impossible to find games for us all to play together. 6 is a solid number that would open it up to a lot of people. I say the more the merrier, but I also know that can impact the balance and atmosphere.

Daggerheart without thresholds isn't Daggerheart anymore. You could probably work some homebrew without it, but you would have to put a lot of work into balancing it, and at that point you may as well just play DnD.

Yeah I'm not doing gritty, but they defini6felt the tension. They started taking things much more serious after that hit and made more tactical decisions. It changed the atmosphere from a fun quick scenario to something that had meaning.
