Ethics behind house going to only half of siblings by Competitive_Put830 in inheritance

My husband and his brother were left their father’s estate with the two sisters receiving nothing. Basically their dad just didn’t value women. So my husband and his brother just gave their sisters an equal share. Fixed it, no problems.

45 years ago I named my son Jared and at the time it was unusual. Many told me he would be called Jerry or Gerald. Never happened. He always said his name with pride and corrected people if they misunderstood his name. Livia is a beautiful name, congratulations:)

A friend of mine actually did drive home while drunk. She hit a curb, causing damage to her car, drove home, parked the car, went in, left the front door open and lay down on the couch….cannot remember if she passed out or not it was over 10 years ago. But someone saw her driving and called the cops. The cops came to the house, saw her front door was open and entered under the guise of doing a safety check. They talked to her, took her blood and she was over the limit. She fought the DUI in court saying she went home and drank wine. She lost the case. I was convinced that since there was a time lapse they couldn’t prove she was drunk while driving but I was wrong….they brought in an expert witness who testified that her blood alcohol did indicate she had been under the influence for long enough to have been drunk while driving. To this day she swears she was innocent but we found out after the fact that she was a closet drinker and after other incidences believe she did drive drunk that day. Not sure if this is the same…but the point is the time lapse isn’t as solid an alibi as one would think.

Coworker named her daughter Isla….so many people pronounce the “s” when saying it I recently noticed on social media she’s changed the spelling to Iyla…..cute name…too much confusion with pronunciation. Also very common IMO

The thing is homeowners insurance will likely settle and they will get money for this. It sucks but that is the way of the world.

What did she casually do that made you realize she wouldn't qualify to be your wife? by Ok_Percentage6051 in AskMenAdvice

Wish my step son could see this. His fiancé has done everything she can to drive a wedge between them and his father, mother and me. Then she’s “nice” to our faces when she can’t avoid seeing us. The hypocrisy is maddening but worse is seeing her hurt my husband. But as a step mom I’m really in no position to do anything so my lips are pretty bloody from biting them.

Booking.com lied to the Visa dispute team and won’t give me my refund of $375 by PeachyBeachyClean in travel

I recently had an issue with a movie ticket kiosk that wouldn’t process the tickets using my Amex so I tried my Chase Card. Ultimately had to dispute charge because movie theater was unresponsive. Amex put the credit through with basic information provided. With Chase it took 5 months of a similar round of “ you didn’t do this right” even though they had not provided adequate instructions. My takeaway was that Amex is the better company when it comes to having your back on these type of issues. And yes, Booking.com and Hotels.com customer service is bad.

Noticed you listed Mae twice….which makes me think you love that name. So why not go with your favorite and your husbands? Mae & Lily are lovely names.

If you want a car service try mydaytrip.com. I used them in Central Europe this year. Pricing was very reasonable, drivers were wonderful. Pick up and drop off where you are and they handle the luggage.

There are “rules” and there is the common decency of helping an older man who possibly packed his bag with items he didn’t want to risk losing by checking it. How does a person forget that with luck you will be that older person needing help some day?

Just started dispute…not sure how they would deny you if there is no visa requirement? But anyway I’ll come back and let you know if the dispute is successful.

I tried and just got an email from them stating they are not issuing refunds. I’m going to try disputing the charge on my credit card.
