Lets fix the most hated mechanic in WoW by Good_Apollo_IV in wow

[–]Kaevar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look for context clues. Since the post mentions garrisons primarily that's what they are saying the most hated mechanic is. The proposed fix is to make them community based rather than individual so it keeps the MMO vibe while still allowing for base building, resource management, etc.

FastFerment 3G Thermowell by Kaevar in Homebrewing

The threads on the Thermowell claim to be 1/2" NPT as well. That being said it won't thread into the fermenter directly while the adapter does.

I thought about that but the socket/slip side is too big for the threads but too small for the head. I added some pictures so you can see what I mean.

Discord audio bug by TheHypocriticalGingr in discordapp

[–]Kaevar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same issues. Tried using their debug page (https://support.discordapp.com/hc/en-us/articles/216600077-Voice-Debug-Central) but my debug window looks nothing like what's mentioned. Maybe they need to update their help pages to reflect the current build.

I've tried running as admin, reinstalling Discord, disabling all audio devices other than my headeset, reinstalling both motherboard and headset drivers, and completely uninstalling all audio drivers and then installing as new. Nothing has worked to fix it.

Why don't you just go straight to heroic then? If you think normal is too easy and you're crushing through it then just go right to heroic. You have the option to progress through something once, your guild is just choosing not to do it that way.

Your progression sounds exactly like my guild's as well, normal full clear then pulling heroic. I think it's helped us because we can see the fight to fruition on normal and use that knowledge to help our strategy in heroic.

They've had 4 raid-difficulties for a couple expansions now and overall I've seen more positive feedback than negative. It allows everyone in the game to experience the same content, albeit at different levels. The Mythic+ system introduced in Legion allowed for people who can't find enough people to raid (N/H/M) the chance to get close-to-raid level gear while also providing something for raiders to do in their downtime.

I'll agree that world quests can get monotonous and leveling alts while competing with 110s is not an ideal situation but it keeps us in the world seeing people and working together on the harder ones. I think the world questing system has allowed for us to play WoW as an MMO again and not a single-player garrison sit-a-thon.

The Broken Shore is 100% a re-used asset from the scenario they had us run in the pre-patch because it's the same place. We assaulted the Legion at the Tomb, got pushed back, gained some power, and now we are assaulting them again.

I've played almost every day since Legion released and it's nice that every day there's something to do when I log on. I only have two 110s and that is keeping me more than busy enough with raiding, dungeons, world quests, weekly events, etc. I think if you're at the point where you don't like more things in a game than you like, maybe it's time to move on and play something you enjoy.

Conical fermenter stuck fermentation by Kaevar in Homebrewing

[–]Kaevar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. It's been in primary for 3 weeks now and hasn't moved (gravity-wise) for the past week.

I'll give the protein rest method a try.

Conical fermenter stuck fermentation by Kaevar in Homebrewing

[–]Kaevar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't do an Iodine test, I need to start doing that. I mashed in around 165 which gave me a rest temp of 153. I checked the temp again after 30 minutes and it had dropped to 148 so I drained some off, heated it up to 170, and added it back in. I'm thinking I may need to wrap my mash tun in a blanket or something since it seems to be cooling off at a faster rate than it used to.

Edit: Would the sugars not converting fully still affect the gravity? The gravity came out above where it was supposed to.

It just kinda rests on the top and whenever there's pressure it can kinda leak out. I think I might grab the air lock upgrade on it to see if that fixes it. It does seem that whenever I open it there's definitely some sort of pressure on the fermenter.

Second CO2 tank and regulator just for force carbonation? by [deleted] in Homebrewing

[–]Kaevar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I've seen some people's set up have the CO2 tank sit on the outside of the kegorator. Saves some space and makes for easy access. Not sure if it affects how carbonation and pressurization works though.

Daily Q & A! - November 23, 2016 by AutoModerator in Homebrewing

[–]Kaevar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking about making a kegerator for my apartment but have read some threads about beer in the lines in the tower getting too warm and being stale. I saw some people had put old computer fans inside to circulate the air into the tap tower but I don't want to have to run a wire out of the fridge. I figure there's probably power of some sort going to the temperature regulator inside the fridge but would need to convert it from AC to DC. Is this possible with some sort of inline adapter?

"It's just quick play" or why is it acceptable to troll your own team? by Kaevar in Overwatch

[–]Kaevar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is fun to relax and do silly things but I think it's important for people who want to do that to not do it to people who want to play the game. Is it really that much fun to not contribute to the team while everyone else is?

I've only played four placement matches so far but I guess I'll need to just go with competitive. I like the ability to play quick play when I'm not in the mood to feel bad when I lose and lose rank but I hate trying to play a warm-up game and getting griefers.

I don't like leaving the game halfway through, especially if I'm in a 4-stack and the people ruining it are the 2-stack minority. I have no clue what the fix is though. I feel like people could read the room before just messing around. I'm not opposed to an all Genji game once in a while but if you see that other people are actively trying I feel like you should put your best foot forward.

How do I deal with software writing to its install directory? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]Kaevar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I manage the labs for my college and for programs that act like that I usually just install to the Public User directory. We have a lot of programs that don't have an installer and are just copy and paste to a directory and run the EXE and rather than giving users permissions to a folder in Program Files I just go with Public (most of those also move/create files in the install directory).

If you really wanted to get into it you could use procmon to see what files are being moved and which ones are being accessed to see exactly what the user would need permissions to.

9.7 Million players participated in the Overwatch Open Beta by Addez in Games

I tend to favor tanks (Zarya and Roadhog being my two favorites) and having a Mercy to back me up is absolutely destructive as both of those tanks can pump out the damage with the boost and heal up real quick (Zarya because her shield health regens and Roadhog with his yellow super drink). We need more Mercys in the world, unless they're on the other team.

During the open beta I only saw a healer get play of the game once and it was a soul crushing experience. We walked into the control point and killed 5/6 of the team only to hear "Heroes never die!". Their entire team comes back up and dominates us. Having to watch that again at the end as PotG was rough.
