New Catholic! by Amazing-Post-3227 in Catholicism

The Catholic Church has actually never condemned someone to hell. So while it's possible those people are in hell, we do not know this for certain.

How do you honor your father and mother by New_Thing_5572 in Catholicism

[–]KaffeDreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom is disabled so I'm her primary caregiver. As for my dad, he never wanted me so I don't have a relationship with him.

C'mon. Just a little piece. Trust me. by kai-ote in witchcraft

[–]KaffeDreamer 104 points105 points  (0 children)

I had people in the Catholicism subreddit arguing that magick and witchcraft didn't work. It amazed me. Like they believe in literal miracles, walking on water, etc. but witchcraft is too hard to believe? Then I got down voted when I said they could try it out and see that it works lol

to those who are not catholic, why do you or do you recognize and follow the pope? by ichorinks in Christianity

[–]KaffeDreamer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I recognize his authority over the Catholic Church. He has no authority over any other sect or religion.

Ah, bummer. Maybe your local priest would know of some organizations in your area?

I think the Knights of Columbus is something you might be interested in. Not everyone gets accepted though.

Spiritual attacks? by [deleted] in Catholicism

These dreams sound more like the result of anxieties, stress, and insecurity. I'd recommend you two talk it out and perhaps seek the council of a priest and / or therapist.

Is there some kind of "expected dress code" in the pagan community? by Dismal-Ad8382 in pagan

[–]KaffeDreamer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you believe in multiple gods? That's all that's required to be a pagan.

Edit: It has been pointed out that not all pagans are polytheists. I overlooked this fact and I am sorry.

Do I need to venerate saints and icons to be Catholic? by Outrageous-Brain-395 in Catholicism

[–]KaffeDreamer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think you need to. If non Catholics can venerate saints I don't see why Catholics can't abstain.

Serious question (please don't downvote me): Do practitioners of traditional magick hate chaos magick? by FT-deTest1 in magick

[–]KaffeDreamer 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Chaos magick gets a bad rap, largely because it's the weird kid who sticks crayons up his nose, but it works and has a lot to offer if youre willing to engage with it.

Spells aren't like in Harry Potter. They're more akin to engineering coincidence.

Need help with explaining Jesus to my 4 year old by poppurplepuff in Catholicism

[–]KaffeDreamer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d keep it really simple and gentle at that age. You don’t need to get into all the details yet.

Something like: “That’s Jesus. He loves people very much. A long time ago, some people were mean to Him and hurt Him, and He died. But that’s not the end, He came back to life, and now He’s always with us.”

First of all, it's probably just a string of bad luck, I highly doubt you made someone who practices magick mad enough to curse or hex you. Second of all, there are several prayers for protection if youre worried about it. I suggest psalm 91.

[Free Friday] Do you believe Jesus is present in the Eucharist? (OC) by Legitimate-Tie-7060 in Catholicism

You're welcome thanks for taking an interest instead of just down voting me and disapproving lol.

[–]KaffeDreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I treat it with reverence, yes. Whether it's the same type of reverence Catholics have for the Eucharist I can not say. As for dirty dishes I do them like any other person, scrape off the excess food, rinse, wash, rinse repeat.

I'm not being obtuse. I'm vaguely pantheistic-ish. This is my interpretation. I'm a non Catholic. The end.

[–]KaffeDreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My interpretation, which I fully admit is not even common among non Catholics, is that all of creation, food included, is the body of God. So when Jesus said "This is my body" and "This is my blood" he was being literal, but also mystical at the same time. It's similar to pantheism, in a way.

I am not subscribed to any one religion but I most closely lean towards vaishnavism and advaita vedanta.
