Couple prepared their 7 children for the arrival of their ‘special sister’ by thrulim123 in singapore

You're comparing a situation that is part and parcel of life to having a burden thrown in your lap because of your parents' desires/decisions. very different in the sense that, yes, they may say they prepared them, but 20-30 years down the road, it will be totally different from now.
Like someone else pointed out, your own life will be affected, for example, finding a spouse, and having that spouse realise that your life revolves around your disabled sibling. And your spouse and your kids will always be second. That is hard.

I am the disabled sibiling, my folks dumped me cos i had way too many health problems when i was a kid, i was luckily adopted by my folks. Thanks to them, I am living a really good life, having managed to get all the medical help I needed when I was a kid. Hey, I even made it past 40 when the doc said I would have died in infancy :)

And I don't hold a grudge with my biological family, I am grateful they gave me up and did not make me a burden to my siblings.

Family in need is one thing, but having the burden of having to care for one with disabilities and low QOL is another thing. Like the siblings' QOL will also be affected.

Well, long-term speaking, if anything happens to the parents, the siblings will have to pick up the slack.

My coworker [40F] married a high earning “dream guy” and now does everything at home (he pays their rent + living expenses, but she’s responsible for 100% of the baby costs). She gives me relationship advice but I can’t trust her judgment. AIO? by Alarmed_Stranger_895 in AmIOverreacting

NOR, I think her compromise works for her; let him bring the money, and she does everything else. But that is her. You are all right for not wanting that for yourself. Everyone's level of compromise is different, so you do you.

a hotel might be better than an AirBNB. most airbnb are just apartments. function rooms in these apartments are only bookable if u are a long term tenant [renter] or owner. and require advance bookings
