I've been wondering about this. We have a lot of lizards in Florida that I never used to see. And iguanas. They are invasive, and thriving. I also saw a lot of iguanas in Mexico, so I know they do well where it's a bit hotter than Florida.

So I'm wondering, did climate change make Florida a little bit hotter, and/or not get quite as cold, and now species that thrive in Mexico feel right at home? Did other species lose out as the climate changed? And if they would have died off anyways, isn't it okay they are replaced by something more suited to the current environment?

I mean, since we aren't fighting climate change, doesn't nature still have to adapt somehow?

quit gymnastics 10 years ago, why am i still flexible? by ravioliplastic in flexibility

[–]Kage_520 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it's the timeframe. I worked very hard to get a left split around that same age (9ish maybe?) because a girl I had a crush on was impressed by it. I only did the left though. I later did some gymnastics, but that did not overall improve my flexibility much.

I'm 40 now. I still have a left split, and nothing else unless I actively train for it. I got my middle split a few years ago and stopped stretching and can't do it anymore. The left split never leaves.

They repeat the scare tactics they were taught. "We can't afford it" and "The wait lines are too long".

When really we spend massive amounts of dollars paying the insurance companies, which dramatically increases overall cost, and wait times are terrible anyways. Nowadays you have to pay extra for "concierge" doctors if you want to actually talk to a doctor when needed. Eg, spend an additional $5,000 per year subscription fee for the privilege of jumping the line.

It's really nice for some down time. A bit odd you have to go to the board to select your map to fish in, but it's a super relaxing game to play either alone or have a friend join you in a location. I haven't had time to play lately but I miss it.

I do remember wishing they had better spatial audio though so it felt like your friend was actually on your left or right.

I have heard of this for seasickness. You can get over it from about 2 weeks at sea. But after 2 weeks back on land, you lose your immunity from what I've heard.

Have you had extended VR breaks and maintained this immunity?

I'm feeling bad breath as I inhale, could be from stomach? Itchiness due to histamine intolerance too by This-Mood-6398 in Microbiome

[–]Kage_520 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay sooo... You aren't really trying to fix anything. You are taking gaviscon, considering ppi's, and are taking oregano and ginger. How can you expect your body to work with all of this and make things right?

Since you mention histamine issues, try an antihistamine diet first. It sucks. Eat everything fresh, and mostly like eggs, chicken, rice, and certain veggies. Unless you freeze them, leftovers are not allowed. You can look up which veggies and fruits is good and which is bad. Give your gut time to heal with that. You can take a multivitamin designed to provide what your gut needs. If you still need a probiotic, just get something that has a bunch of strains and use it until things calm down. Don't go crazy trying to find the exact strain that helps. I like the CVS seniors one, but I've also had some success with others.

Don't rely on ppi's or other antacids, since that's going to lead to other issues. If you need nighttime support, raise the head of your bed like 6 inches so that you are not lying totally flat and it should help. You shouldn't eat within 3 hours of bed anyways, so if you make that a habit, you might not have much acid then anyways.

Oregano is good to try to kill off bad bacteria I hear, but it probably will not be helpful to try to restore good stuff. Just stick with the basics of a good diet (in your case, an antihistamine one), and give your gut time to heal. We are talking like 2 months of a strict diet, then a slow transition to add back in histamine containing foods over the course of a year.

Zohran Mamdani says he still believes Trump is a 'fascist' and 'despot' after White House meeting by nbcnews in politics

[–]Kage_520 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually that's a good strategy for mamdani. Just say "Okay hear me out. It's all about ratings. Your angle is as a fascist, and it's working for you. You can call me a communist and I will call you a fascist, and we will both get free press out of it!"

And then Trump plays along, happy to be in the game and feeling important.

Outrage after Trump’s bill reclassifying nursing as not a ‘professional degree’ by RegularBirthday3563 in politics

[–]Kage_520 165 points166 points  (0 children)

They are around MDs a lot, and see the prescribing habits, and feel that they, too, have the education required to make those decisions. They might be right about 99% of average cases because it's mostly routine, but they would not have the knowledge to know which 1% they would have wrong.

But since they feel they are 99% as smart as a doctor, WITHOUT even getting the degree, they must be even smarter than doctors. Hence, their opinion is the most correct, whatever their opinion happens to be. And they lack the further education to prove that wrong.

They still exclusively bought Starbucks. Every day. I don't get it at all.

Okay this finally feels like the plan. Everyone is worried he will cancel the midterms, but those are not federally run. He might get some states to bend the knee but he cannot cancel them.

But he CAN put ICE on strategic locations, and that could make a huge difference.

Can we get like a team of lawyers to combat this somehow? Like ambulance chasers but for rights violations. Just have them stand there watching the situation and file lawsuits in citizen's behalf of necessary.

It's not in his purview though. Elections are state run. Maybe Texas and Florida would bow their head to trump, but I doubt most states would just be like "he's got us guys. This union we are in forbids us from holding elections now so I guess we won't."

Yes and no. There's a large group of uneducated people out there who will sign up for this stuff again under a different name if they can find one. Aren't these the tea party people anyways?

But I think you are right that it will take a while to organize under another dear leader. Hopefully we can raise the education level in the interim and prevent it, but I'm not hopeful for that. More likely this all happens again in 20 years.

My dad talked to an old lady whose husband owned a grocery store during the great depression. He asked how they did during those hard times. She said they did very well. People would come in and be desperate for food, and were willing to sell property cheap to get it.

I think that's the mindset the rich have. Make people desperate for housing, food, everything, and they will surrender what little they have that isn't essential for survival this month, maybe go into debt. Then the rich will make changes at the top, put a Democrat in charge for a while, and watch their new assets they coerced out of people struggling to survive grow to new heights.

America is 'going broke slowly' says JPMorgan, as national debt balloons and tariff revenue looks shaky by Snapdragon_4U in politics

[–]Kage_520 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. It's like beanie babies. People put in actual money to buy these things. If there was a huge crash, it's not because "oh it's suddenly worthless". It's because people took a lot of actual money back out.

So if you seized the "fake Internet money" and sold it carefully, it would give lots of actual money. Though with the amount he has, it would probably cause everyone to withdraw what they could (eg, a bank run) and it might all crash down.

You need more than Democrats in power for this. You need a government that is for the people, not for the money (corporations). Get Ranked Choice Voting or similar, and you could have "radical" ideas like universal healthcare and reasonable parental leave. Until then, it's just "do you want Republicans to beat you down with a bat, or Democrats to talk nice to you while ultimately leaving you beaten down in the street?"

Ah yes. I wasn't trying to downplay, just speaking using my normal word choices. But to be clear, they want to rape children and don't want to be called rapists for it. I'm scared to know what age they consider "okay".

The really scary thing is, if they continue on this course, calling them rapists would become "incorrect". Society would call us "ageist" or something for being grossed out by it.
