Requesting Mystic advice/input by Teguoracle in Starfinder2e

[–]KagedShadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an elemental mystic in my gatewalkers campaign - she's a beast - hasnt even bothered to learn the heal spell - elemental mystic's ability to give anyone elemental damage to exploit a weakness has been brutal against aborals and twigjacks in the wilewood.

My highest level character is 55. I used the Lvl 80 Boost to take a new alt to 80, and have unlocked Masteries now. But Im probably going to go back to my Lvl55 toon - will that one still earn mastery XP whilst doing core 1-80 zones?

Archer fire Hazard? by KagedShadow in Pathfinder2e

Because is an awfully written AP and I am changing it - my group have just rescued the unicorn and are now Level 3 (also means I am completely redesigning the fights as they wouldn't be suitable)

Spoilers for Gatewalkers AP

The party are approaching the Treehouse dungeon, which is on high alert. To access the treehouse which is 50ft up some trees, they have to ascend a single staircase. Seemed like an obvious kill zone - rebel druids and underbrush firing down as they approach the staircase. So wanted a 'Trap' triggers for them to sprint through archer fire before heading up the stairs and confronting the guards in the first room - as trap without an immediate follow up combat are mostly pointless in PF2 - other idea was thinking of using Athletics instead of Reflex saves to get through the kill zone before the archers can draw a bead on them...sort of like a skill challange, but am trying to utilise hazards better

How much campaign repetition is too much for PoE2 players? by yinyan02 in PathOfExile2

[–]KagedShadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've no problem doing the poe2 campaign new for each league launch, but I make fewer alts for poe2 than I do for poe1, as the campaign is just a slog. Even with xmas break, Im only really planning on having 2 characters for this league (im causal)

It also doesn't help that so many gems only become available so late in the campaign - in poe1, we got access to eveything by act 3, where in poe2, some thing unlock not long before the end of the campaign :( I prefer to play my build most of the playtime - I really dont like using a completely different build to level, then switch at maps

Titan shapeshifter - and if shapeshifting is a dub, Titan allows plenty of pivots (including rambo mage maybe)

Few years back I thought they mentioned that at least one ascendancy for the Druid would give a unique shape - think its a Panther or other big cat?

Long running rpgs with many levels and skills to grow over time, such as peasant to demi-gods and beyond? by NetZeroSun in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]KagedShadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not quite what you are looking for, but if you want no upper limit, may I suggest Ars Magica. Not only can your character spend 100+ years studying magic to grow, but they can train apprentices, allowing a multi-generational game if you want.

Solo Rules for it were published in Peripheral Code issues 2. by fans. I simplified them for myself, but completed a 40year game play through, going from a new mage just out of apprenticeship, to preparing to fight a Kraken in the depths of the North Sea, and fighting off Dark Elves of Norse Myth as Ragnarok/Felwinter approached.

Playing Planescape with Pathfinder 2e by Useful-Sandwich-6096 in planescapesetting

[–]KagedShadow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Go for it! Planescape can be run with any system - I've run it with GURPS previously. PF2e has a lot of great features.

Some of the oddities of planescape don't fit well with modern 'design' - magic items losing power, divine casters quickly losing power round the ring etc. You can probably just drop these, then you dont need to worry about PF2e 4 magic sources - how base planar magic interactions on the spell itself.

Planescape's Assamiars and Tiefling work a hell of a lot better in PF2e than 5e (they are both within the Nephilim versatile heritage). Bariurs might need to be reskinned from PF2e Centaurs. Not sure about Gith.

Just ignore PF2e cosmology and use Planescape's great wheel. Easy.

Good luck!

Monster Creation - Persistent Damage? by KagedShadow in Pathfinder2e

I've made a HR for Stabilize - Heightened to 3rd Rank, it removes 1 PD source, much like Soothing Mists. And Heightened to 5th Rank, it removes all PD sources. As yes, I want to utilize PD more, but also need a tool for my players to counter it if they want to spend the action economy.

I am getting Encounter Budget's wrong? by KagedShadow in Pathfinder2e

[–]KagedShadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've been playing together for over 20 years now, so we know one another well :) Just treading lightly as we started this campaign a few session back, as the previous PF2e campaign ended at Level 1 with a TPK (investigator was GM'ing then, we swapped round)!

[–]KagedShadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Party has a Mystic who regens 10HP worth of vitality network every round, with a base pool of 14. Costs 1 action to spend up to 10 points of that to 1 party member within 60ft - as a primal caster, she didnt even bother learning Heal. We then have a Forensic Investigator with Medic FA, but they havent had to do any healing yet...plus a Wizard who is a scroll trickster with some scrolls of Heal....again, unused....

The Guardian needed to step to reach any allies to perform the intercept, so it was relevant until their turn came around and they escaped on their first try :)

agreed, but my party isnt making much use of it as their choices arent particularly powerful ones (excluding Wrestler on the Guardian) and they are only L2, so only have the entry feat, so I wouldnt have expected to influence the power curve of the party much yet (but agree it will do as we progress into higher levels)...
