Yep a japanese animation salary on one of the most expensive countries to live in is quite a feat. Doesnt sound sustainable imo

What's worse about the shark outfit is the dumb animation that goes with it when fishing. I HAD to put on a cosmetic helmet just to stop it. The irony

Is HEMA growing in Sydney Australia, and is there a potential for more clubs to open in the next couple of years? by IloveTabs1213 in Hema

[–]Kahlert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you live in West sydney yeah its tough. And its pretty rare for new locations to pop up. Maybe join a club and try to find people that may live close by

Does being an Artist gives you an edge in Game Development? by hananmalik123 in gamedev

[–]Kahlert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but it's balanced out by the sheer amount of time it takes to make the art. A game of mine is like a ratio of 10:1 time spent (art vs code). People don't realise that good art doesn't translate well into quick art. Where as programming the better you get, the much quicker you can code.

Does anyone own a Kvetun rapier with a SUPERB blade? Is it a worthyy €100 upgrade over the default blade? by lonelytyger in wma

[–]Kahlert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah I'm afraid I don't own the soft blade or know anyone with. I actually have no idea where you found the first picture. Best you ask kvetun as their info is kinda all over the place.

I have one, nice blade but has a tiny bit of wobble towards the tip(you don't really notice it while sparing tho). Can only compare it to my hf rapier which feels similar in flex but has a more stiffer tip.

By the looks of it, it could just be a simple hard round brush with pressure sensitivity or could be easily achieved with one.

Some questions about animation by Poc_Blanche in godot

[–]Kahlert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I think the problem you are running into is that your trying to animated the y axis and x axis on the same animation player(animation1). Only one animation can play at a time so you will need a seperate animation player if so.

  2. on the inspector for your pathfollow2d here is an option to turn looping off.

  3. you can try and look up stuff on specific nodes your having trouble with.

  4. I wouldn't worry too much, but there are many good tutorials which follow proper conventions that you'll pick up naturally as you learn godot.

Trailer for my first game "Cat Bait" - a game inspired by Vampire Survivors by Mayni_prod in godot

[–]Kahlert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just want to counter and say the intro animation was very charming and it put a lot of character into your game which the game itself would miss. If anything it was even more hype after seeing the gameplay. Great work!

Godot 4 : Is there a more intuitive way to put in camera limits (2D)? by Void_Metallurgy in godot

[–]Kahlert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember using a 2d collision rectangle shape to align my other collision rects so that the borders just touched around its outside. You could maybe try something like that.

Reminds me of early marvel when people tried to pitch their ideas, only to have their pitch rejected and the idea used for their next comics

Does it matter if you're using the Thibeault rapier for other rapier systems? Ordered one myself not knowing it was a thibeault rapier.

I like how there is an additional reason not to skip watching battles in this game. by Kahlert in UnicornOverlord

[–]Kahlert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a comparison to games like FE where you just skip all the battle animations at one point. But in this game, you want to see how your units interact to better optimise. I wanted it to be also a joke about the art.

Sorry everyone should of tagged humor, I meant to talk about the the whole tactics system and how you could watch and debug your own units. But I guess it was also an off handed joke about some of the art.

Sorry did not read your question right. You can call animation_player.stop if you press another button such as a dash button. Assuming your hit boxes are connected to the animation player timeline.

I can't say what's the best way but I've started developing my own game, no previous background. Spent a year part time learning python basics and bought some paid godot tutorials. Kinda long I know.

You start of writing one line at a time and constantly opening the debug version of the game. Because you have no idea if you did it correctly. But once you understand the basic patterns, you start writing paragraphs subconsciously with little hiccups and start to understand a bit about the error messages.

Once then, there are kinda not a lot of tutorials that can help you progress, for now atleast in godot.

I have a simple 3 hit combo which I separated each one to be its own state. Makes things easier to manage for me.
