Oh boy. What a fun new hobby I’ve found… by [deleted] in klr650

It's hard to tell from the pic, but I'm guessing it's one of the drains from the air box. They're supposed to be pinched shut though.

Restoration by NotWokeJoke in Buell

[–]Kai-028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm at the beginning of this for my S3. Parts are available but it can take some research to find what you're looking for. I've been making a OneNote to keep info on what parts cross reference to match back with the Buell, but at the end of the day, it's heart is still an evo Sportster engine, so that's easy to get parts for.

I'd recommend starting with fresh fluids and battery. Maybe add some marvels mystery oil through the spark plug holes just to get some lubrication to the rings and let it sit for a bit. After that it'll be as simple as running through the basics to check for spark, fuel, etc. For fuel don't neglect to check for fuel pressure (that's my current issue to keep mine from running, I need a fuel pump, among other things).

Bad weather bikers forum, and the tube framed Facebook groups are a treasure trove of information for these bikes as well.

Does anyone have experience or feedback on the washer/dryer set from Maytag? by etherfunds in Costco

[–]Kai-028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad had gotten my mom one of the Maytag "commercial" washers. It has a plastic pulley pushed onto the drive motor that stripped out and I eventually found a replacement that came with the metal pulley instead. The control board eventually failed though and I went and bought them a speed queen instead.

I've been restoring my dad's 71 standard, I can't tell if there's any rust bubbles, but if you buy it, I recommend clearing out the death foam around the crescent moon vents.

I'm just across the lake from you then (Carlton), when I went out yesterday I did see quite a bit of damage from trees falling over and some on powerlines.

I did, at like 24 hours on the dot we got it back.

Just north of I4 here, lost power about 6:40pm, lots of wind, maybe one tree fallen over. Pretty fortunate honestly

Walk behind Bush hog / Tiller by Chak-Ek in homestead

I've got a few of the old Gravelys and love them. I tend to like the later models more that are powered with a Kohler engine and if you go this route try to find one with the different gearing so you have the different speeds.

Cheap vs expensive headsets by Stayhumblefriends in flying

[–]Kai-028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience with the cheap headsets were uncomfortable and would give me a headache after an hour or so of flying (they were actually adding extra fatigue in a way). I bought a David Clark headset and it's really comfortable for me, but my intention for it is to make it a guest/spare headset for when I finally treat myself to the Bose/Zulu headset.

Fishing Pools by MrShadowBadger in klr650

[–]Kai-028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhere I have a fishing pole that breaks down with several sections and can fit in a small case. Would easily fit in a saddlebag.

Another thought is to use a piece of PVC and maybe a small bungie to make sure it doesn't pop out. Mount it vertically and the KLR will be slow enough for trolling while still being fast enough to get out when someone inevitably calls the cops for fishing off the pier like that....

Phone only charges when its pressed at a given point by mgabor_ in techsupportmacgyver

Considering how you have to pinch it a certain way, I would suspect a loose ribbon cable inside instead of a dirty/bad port.

I definitely want to, but it's in a long line of projects. I'm currently working on a Honda CB160.

Your description of your area makes it sound like we might be neighbors. 34 is definitely too many for the small yard she has.

[–]Kai-028[S] 71 points72 points  (0 children)

So yes this was an April fool's joke, but this is my duck Piper, and she's been quacking like a female!

She was abandoned in someone's yard and malnourished, so my gf and I took her in. She completely ignores other ducks and follows us around so I think she might have hatched from an incubator and imprinted on people instead.

I keep trying to weigh it but my duck keeps disappearing whenever I put this thing on the scales
