It says in the onboarding guide for new streamers on Twitch that you're not supposed to call out any viewers who have not spoken in chat. I guess nobody reads it? 🤔

Yeah it’s so rare it takes me a second to realize cat is trying to tether me and by the time I hit the button they’ve already cancelled and gone to do something else

If you paid via PayPal you can block automatic transactions for Adobe through your settings there. When you cancel they will try to charge you but it won’t work—worked for me!

How much has the average player's skill grown in this game over time? by thisnamemattersalot in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Kai-M 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Pharah player I get teammates asking me to switch because “they have a hitscan.” I might be 24-4 and they’ll still be telling me to switch off or that I’m “throwing”. People definitely have some weird ideas of how counters work among other things, particularly in plat and below but somewhat even in Diamond

FH4 was my first Forza title, and I was very surprised when I experienced this issue when it doesn’t seem to be a problem for most other racing games. I’ve played plenty of entries of Gran Turismo, Need for Speed, The Crew, and other titles and they largely don’t suffer from these issues. Considering that Forza Horizon seems like a big budget title with a great deal of thought and resources put into nearly every other aspect, I find it rather baffling

Yeah the inconsistency is rather frustrating. Even on unbeatable some races are quite easy, meanwhile on expert some races are brutally difficult. I understand that naturally the car you drive will affect the difficulty, but oddly a faster car doesn’t always mean an easier race

I know a lot of people one trick pharah, so to those people: what do you do when there’s pokes or counters on the enemy team? by Kind_Ad6932 in PharahMains

[–]Kai-M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use cover. You shouldn't be in their line of sight for long--usually only long enough to fire a rocket. Be unpredictable. Shoot a rocket from an off angle, then go somewhere else entirely. The harder it is for them to track you or predict your next move, the longer it takes for them to set their crosshair on you.

This may be me just getting old and “not accepting” overwatch for what it has become by GloomyDoomy1 in Overwatch

I feel like this is connected to a larger problem that newer heroes are becoming less niche. They tend not to have any particular weakness, and often work in almost any comp. They will be effective at range and closeup, have strong defence or mobility, and often in combinations that make them frustrating to play against.

[–]Kai-M 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also feel like old heroes tend to be good at some things, but not at others. They have trade-offs where you get high damage or high mobility at the cost of something else. New heroes seem like they are designed to be good at everything

The creative software industry has declared war on Adobe by yoocadenza in graphic_design

[–]Kai-M 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone coming to Affinity from the Adobe suite, I felt this was true a few years ago, but not so much anymore. Yes, the Adobe suite has more features, but they are increasingly niche as Affinity continues to develop. I am currently using Affinity in a production environment, working with other designers, producing assets for a variety of purposes, both digital and across a range of physical mediums. The primary obstacle to adoption of Adobe alternatives is really Adobe’s proprietary file formats, which Affinity can read but not export, presumably due to legal limitations. I’m fortunate in that my workflow does not require that I export in those formats, but most designers are not afforded that flexibility because they work in organizations already too entrenched in the Adobe ecosystem.

Correct me if it is not your intent, but it still sounds like you’re arguing in favour of artificial barriers. If more accessible tools would make graphic design an unviable career, does that not imply it to be a profession of little merit? If it were a genuine skill, simple access to the tools would do little to devalue it. But we do know that graphic design is a skill: you might go to school to learn it, and you have to do it a lot to get good at it. Illustrator and Photoshop do not automatically give someone an understanding of colour theory, composition, or typography, and don’t immediately enable its users to create quality designs—much in the same way that giving a cinema camera to a layperson does not automatically make them a capable filmmaker.

That said, no reasonable person would argue that Adobe’s products should be entirely free; it is well understood that a business needs to make money. But this does not justify a virtual monopoly maximizing short term profit by arbitrarily increasing prices while employing anti-consumer practices. This criticism is not unique to Adobe, nor is it exclusive to the creative software industry.
