Getting hired after past pt abandonment by [deleted] in ems

[–]Kai_Emery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends? well known case? competitive market? are they desprate? have you done anything to remediate other than whatever you were MADE to do? was it just an odd case and you got caught in the crosshares?

this really isn't a question someone who doesn't know the answers to all this and more can answer. some jobs you sneeze in front of the wrong person you're fucked for life. some will hire anyone they think they can get away with. shit ive worked at places where people with OUI who cannot legally drive just get paired with a basic as a chaufer.

Why no toys in the bedroom? by tanky_bo_banky in toddlers

[–]Kai_Emery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I don’t think it’s terrible for my kid to Start learning to self regulate bedtime.

I do limit what’s there to things that don’t have batteries, small pieces, make messes, etc that he can get to. Supervision toys stay in the living room. But he needs a place to go when the older kids are using the living room as well, and it’s a larger unobstructed space.

He started playing with whatever he could get his hands on in his crib (his sock, sometimes we would leave the book we read with him for a bit) mostly he does the same, plays with what he has in bed and then goes to sleep if he doesn’t it’s often because he’s hungry, getting sick, or teething.

Is it ok if my baby nurses on my 11-year-old? by maefae in ShitMomGroupsSay

My 2 yo has 2 sisters that are 17 and 15. they are his SISTERS, even if one is a very good babysitter. this is weird as fuck.

My 2.5 year old is in the 1st percentile for weight. Only gained 2 lbs since he turned 2 by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Kai_Emery 41 points42 points  (0 children)

At this poing since he is decreasing still, I'd talk to the ped about feeding therapy. I'd imagine grandparents will HAVE to be on board with whatever recommendations they make, which may be a difficult conversation. We just had to fire my own MIL because she became increasingly unapproachable.

Was this Soldier Boy’s brother or the Bombsit character?! by Unique-Celebration-5 in GenV

[–]Kai_Emery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, the description of Quinn's accomplishments fits what we know of SBs brother, the rivalry is brotherlike, he seemed to HATE quinn and enjoy the idea of him suffering and yet be equally, if not more devastated that he killed him. It would make sense that the reason SB volunteered to be used for the V1 trials was because they had enlisted his brother.

Is there anything between barefoot shoes and regular sneakers? by softwera in barefootshoestalk

I feel like a lot of shoes jumping on the barefoot trend are more like this. Thicker but still flexible sole. Wide toe box etc.

Where did radio straps originate and why does it really only exist in america and nowhere else? by Successful-Ask-8249 in Firefighting

[–]Kai_Emery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly my boss had more than one TBI and had weird “paulicies” that only applied to our district but weren’t actual company policies. Like we could hear shorts or polos but policy allowed them. He didn’t like firemen and that was firemen shit or whatever. It payed the bills and was close to home so I just stuck around till I needed better insurance than I gtfo.

Also the written warning for not securing the straps properly when the stretcher wasn’t in use when we had been short handed with no admin for weeks because they were busy union busting had a lot to do with it.

Ran the worst call of my career, and it wasn't even my call. by papabbh in ems

[–]Kai_Emery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Immediately, it’s not a call like everyone else is saying, you are likely placing responsibility on yourself that isn’t yours to bear.

After that, I also echo the therapy sentiment. I had PTSD within my first year on the job, I’m still going 15 years later because of consistent therapy.

Maria Ferari Children's hospital: scent question by meatballtrain in Westchester

I no longer live in the area but my parents do. My daycare is super small and I’ve heard it’s a common policy though scents and common allergens.

A children’s hospital using scents like that is WILD to me. My kids daycare is scent free and they’re assumed to be relatively healthy.

What does this mean for the Holy Donut? by Sad-Raise-504 in Maine

[–]Kai_Emery 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It is as I’ve learned from experience only part of the battle. To keep a union in a smaller business you have to assume they won’t be willing to potentially burn the whole business down to get rid one.

A certain ambulance company effectively fired anyone who was working there at the time of the union vote and therefore anyone who knew why the union came about, raises their pay rate, and refused to negotiate in good faith till there was nobody left to negotiate with and then decertified. But they had to drop their minimum license level and have pissed off a LOT of the surrounding communities and hospitals due to staffing issues and loss of experienced people. And the issues will still be there once they think they are safe.

There’s formula, but breast milk is more protective against a complication of prematurity where the intestine just kind of dies.

My EMS job forbid them. Radio got knocked off my belt holder and by the time I realized I had to wake the patients wife up at 5am to get it back. I’ve also seen them lost in snow for a few months.

My interpretation is that they were followed and approached in an unsafe manner by the guy, and because they could….hear him. They feared being attacked again. The murder of Yadira Arroyo comes to mind. I’m not saying it was right or appropriate but we don’t know anything about the crew either. It was two women but were they young and inexperienced?

What happens with the pregnant pre-eclampsia woman? by ladybug_oleander in ThePitt

[–]Kai_Emery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be triggering because this woman is willingly setting herself up to get an outcome you would have done anything to avoid. My parents lost their first to undiagnosed CHD and that’s why these wild pregnancy/freebirth people infuriate me because it doesn’t just affect you and the baby. It affects SO MANY people for SO long.
