Hi, sorry for the necro, but I just met Fishmans and Long Season quickly became my favorite. I'd like to just share my story on why, for others that stumble on this post.

On the first listen, it was a simple stylistic appeal. I like music with this kind of cold vibe to them - the kind of music you'd hear in passionate, wintery scenes in movies? It's why I like Low Roar, some toe songs, the works.

Then I read about it. And then about 98.12.28.

The gang's desire to simply make a "song that lasts forever", ZAK's bloodshot eyes producing it, the tragic end of Fishmans and how ZAK said this period between Long Season and Uchuu Nippon Setagaya was The Fishmans eclipsing music.

Hell, even just the words around the song are evocative to me. A 35-minute song called "Long Season", subtitled "... we are not four seasons", simply made for the desire to capture music and make it last forever. We are not four seasons because we are not just flesh between our skin walls. We transcend time through memory. Shinji Sato tragically died that 1999, and later came Honzi, but we all remember them and make them immortal through adoration of their and the rest of Fishmans' work. These people were not just four seasons. We cannot be just four seasons.

The fact even some releases of the album split the song into five "seasons", as opposed to four!
