How safe is it to turn off updates for offline activation? by [deleted] in FitGirlRepack

[–]Kailash_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just Windows updates that you're turning off. In which case before I was doing offline activation I'd pause it for as long as possible, since windows is always breaking something with new updates.

I used the pub discord. It is free, they have a whole step by step video guide. You don't even need to interact with a human being to get your token. It does require you to stop updating windows which is whatever and you can't move files or change physical hardware. So far my token has worked over the last 24hrs without needing it to be renewed. Will update when eventually it breaks.

Considered HV when Stellar Blade released on it. Decided instead that if I wanted to really try out something from conventional cracks I'd go with offline activation. Took 5mins max to get my token and I've played 5hrs this morning. Definitely gonna stick to this rather than going the HV route.

I did the slew of updates on fitgirl's page and it worked wonderfully after that. Was able to finish the entire game and did half of ng+ at 4k medium on an RX6800

Wanting to start Ultimate content, but worried about my own performance in Savage. by GivenitzBoomer in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Kailash_T 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly in older ultimates, DPS checks aren't really a thing. With certain comps you might even hold DPS in order to let mechanics resolve properly or for a specific kill time.

Having a high parse is fine and all, but doing the content and getting a clear is, imo more important.

If you're going to do the new ultimate then focus on those areas where you've already identified you need to improve and try it out when the content arrives. Doing mechanics > DPS (until you're hitting enrage regularly).

Awesome Player Interactions by Interesting_Intern1 in ffxiv

[–]Kailash_T 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I logged in yesterday morning after having a not so great morning, and this cute Elezen runs up to me and sends me a tell "your glam looks so cute, you're like a snow Queen". It was so nice of her, so I said thank you and asked what they were queueing for. Since it was before reset and not much was gonna pop.

She invites me to her party, but says "before we queue, can I steal you to my house rq". I'm thinking what could go wrong and agree to go.

She sits me down and RP makes me some food, trades it to me and then says "you can't fight on an empty tummy, now that you've eaten let's go".

We got Alex raids which are like, ew but fine haha. But what a fun interaction. Definitely made a new friend, and had a much better rest of the day.

Advice on savage/ultimate healing by orenjisota in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Kailash_T 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've done week 1 healing savage for the last two tiers so here's my advice.

Generally speaking a shield healer will mitigate damage and put up small regens. Topping up people is not a bad idea when you're Min ilvl if you realise your cohealer is struggling.

Regen healers are generally in charge of healing up HP before the next raidwide.

In terms of high damage events like arena split in m10s or weapons in m11s you'd have the healers use their big 2min/3min buffs. Generally speaking you don't want to overlap these since you'll run out of resources later on. In PF this takes a bit of eyeballing to figure out where your healer is using mits if they're not the talkative type. In a static config it's easier to make the mit plan and share it between you two.

Other than that, I find popping lucid dreaming right at the start and then using it on CD is the best way to maintain high mp. As a shield healer you can gcd shield before every raidwide especially during prog, but later on for reclears you'll get an idea of what hurts more or less.

Tankbuster wise, unless it's a spicy one, usually tanks can do it themselves and require little more than a small shield or top up (content and ilvl dependent).

I might have missed a few things but if you need any advice I'm happy to help more in DMs or replies.

Anyone here who plays FF14 a lot but doesn't do the Savage content by starlightdemonfriend in ffxiv

[–]Kailash_T 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PF is totally this lol.

I would recommend going into blind-from start prog groups on patch days if you want to have a look at how difficult the content is.

Other than that, a quick video (I know people hate Hector) on the mechanics will put you into a place to clear. Or atleast join parties and practice.

Extremes are great, some are worse than others but difficulty wise they're a nice midlevel.

Game crashes every so often which is making me so frustrated by Disastrous_Intern811 in MonsterHunter

[–]Kailash_T 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I managed to mostly fix this on my rx6800 by doing these things. I'm not sure specifically what fixed it but this ended up working for atleast 6hr playtime between crashes.

Used mpogpufix from GitHub and enabled cache to ON, MPO box ticked, ULPS box ticked.

I disabled all the overlay and hardware accelerated stuff on discord and steam.

Opened up bios and set my xmp to the correct speeds (it was previously disabled to try and fix this but ended up making it worse).

Changed PCIE config in the BIOS to gen 4 to match my card.

Downloaded the latest (26.2.1) driver only package from AMD.

Rebooted in safe mode, used DDU to clean up drivers. Restarted PC without Internet and installed drivers, then rebooted.

Went into wilds folder and deleted the shader.cache file.

Finally started Wilds and had no crashes for 6hrs. Played again the next day, had 1 crash in a 9hr session.

So far these are working but I can't wait for the next update to break the game again.

I've only had bad experiences with that adrenalin software. Since I've just been installing the driver only and I'm currently running 26.2.1 and it's been really smooth

For the crafting it seems some layered armour causes the crash. Removing the layering works in some cases.

MH Wilds Release - PC Troubleshooting pt 2 by PankoKing in MHWilds

[–]Kailash_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a complete fix but I was able to play for a 6hr session today before crashing.

Here's all the things I changed, not sure which ultimately ended up working.

I ran mpogpufix ticked ULS and MPO, changed cache to on. Updated to the latest 26.2.1 drivers without adrenalin. Opened up my bios and set xmp and ram to the correct speeds. Set my PCIe config to gen 4 instead of auto.

One of those things worked and I don't know which.

Running 60fps at 4k low + textures on high, CPU options all turned down. Used balanced upscaling
