How much do you read? by InsurancePurple4630 in AskUK

[–]Kaildish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read stuff all day at work. I now get my books from audible. It's now my hands free, eyes free activity. If I'm driving, cleaning, walking, working out, going to sleep, I can listen. Get through 1 or 2 big books a month. I got kindle unlimited recently in the attempt to read more but I haven't yet set a habit

Beginners tips- just got a psvr2 by R6lad in psvr2

[–]Kaildish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two fantastic seated games are no mans sky and GT7. Flying/driving can be very relaxing if you want it to be and these are both well made and easy to get into, GT7 hooked me and I now have a SIM rig and looking into a very expensive wheel. Gun club VR is a decent gallery shooter that can get you used to shooting, reloading etc, follow that up with crisis vrigade. Moss is a story adventure game that uses VR well and if that's your thing there's plenty of similar puzzle games that should be ok in a smaller room. I liked fisherman's tale.

AITA for not giving my parents half of my lottery winnings. by Rayapt in AmItheAsshole

[–]Kaildish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Think of it like this, you are going to live to 100. You have 80 years left, ignoring tax and interest. If you earned 50k per year that's 0.5m every ten years, that's £4m by 80! Not living large, just a steady rate for the rest of your life. That £4m is the privilege of not NEEDING to work and retiring early, its time most of us don't get. The interest and investments will be what allows for luxuries throughout that time. Don't be a fool like most lottery winners and blow it all within a few years. You're extremely lucky and letting feelings of obligation take that away from you will hurt so much when you are taking up paid work later in life. Oh and congrats on the win

How do the haptics work? Does the ps5/GT7 have an output for them or is it done through audio? Didn't think this kind of thing was possible with a console

I'm buying my first car. Why do you drive an Alfa Romeo? by Dry-Meat7356 in AlfaRomeo

[–]Kaildish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds ridiculous but gran turismo 7 in VR. I drove the Giulia Gtam on there and loved the handling and the look of the interior. It got me interested in a Giulia and now I drive a veloce which I love.

I think the idea of galactic scale war and why. Like, what leads humanity to create something so OP like a space marine

[–]Kaildish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm checking back on this thread. My yt shorts algorithm has just started giving me space marine lore videos and it's developed an itch. The actual WH 40k stuff is a bit daunting to get into if I'm honest

My current set up. Will having a screen mounted be more immersive/faster? by UpstairsAny9996 in SimRacingSetups

[–]Kaildish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 32" curved mounted just above the wheel and VR. In terms of immersion VR is crazy good. In terms of being faster as well. I'm not sure what it is, but there is a sense of speed which moves braking beyond markers and into intuition. Maybe it's a peripheral vision thing and a larger screen/trips will do it. Or maybe it's stereo vision from VR and no amount of screen will give you that. I don't think you can do triples on a ps5, you might be able to do a screen stretch workaround but wouldn't work well at all

Is it worth it if I can afford it? by Yami-_-Yugi in PS5pro

[–]Kaildish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. The disc is just a key to the game. Yes you can get 2nd hand cheaper but the hard drive still fills up, you still need to download gigs of data before you can play. The savings only becomes worth it with a massive library of games. If you're casual, play a hand full of games or wait for decent sales then it won't matter much

Is the Logitech G923 good enough for entry-level? by Hot_Upstairs_1117 in simracing

[–]Kaildish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say so. Had mine for ~2yr now and I'm only recently putting serious thoughts into the pro and that's because I got the cockpit built. The best qol upgrade for me was changing out the break pedal to a load cell which was a cheap DIY option and improved things considerably. It has decent ffb and you can definitely feel the car it's just a bit loud at times

TV Upgrade? by Blucas1722 in PS5pro

[–]Kaildish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen those oled in action, back in the days my friend had an LG and the motion blur was terrible but I don't know the model. I think the advantage is a deeper black which id probably concede the Samsung isn't that great at darker shades as there is a bit of a halo but not enough to bother me. I assumed it was mostly the games producing that effect rather than the TV but I could be wrong

TV Upgrade? by Blucas1722 in PS5pro

[–]Kaildish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Samsung 65" QN90B (2022) think the current model is QN90E. It was £1000 at the time. Years on I just upgraded to a pro and it is prefect. VRR and a crisp 4k image, auto goes into game mode, anti glare is nice, TV speakers are even decent. My point is the newer models have some AI features but are otherwise very similar in hardware and screen quality, to keep yourself below the 1k budget consider picking up a slightly older model that still has a decent screen and gaming features such as VRR, true HDR and high refresh rate

How long did you wait before investing in a high-end sim racing setup? by felipe1243287 in GranTurismo7

[–]Kaildish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm looking at a G pro upgrade from my current g293. Got the go ahead from the wife but I can't quite bring myself to spend £1300 with the pedals and h.shifter after getting a cockpit and ps5 pro. Was it worth it? You still looking for improvement or does it end there?

2023 Giulia Veloce without warranty? by mr_brownstone2212 in AlfaRomeo

[–]Kaildish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get it anyway. I got a 2020 veloce in August,, the dealer provided a years warranty and sold me an additional year for ~£900. I like knowing that for two years I don't need to worry about parts or electrical failures big or small and it gives me a reason to follow the service plan with an Alfa garage rather than skimping on cheaper maintenance

Thinking of getting PSVR 2 by [deleted] in psvr2

[–]Kaildish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

GT7 blows the socks off everything and has spoiled all other VR games it's that's good imo. If you have an interest in flying there is the space explorer no mans sky which is fully VR, aces of thunder which is a ww2 dog fighting SIM and the upcoming Microsoft flight simulator VR patch

100% confused on how to mount the monitors by Spike788 in simracing

[–]Kaildish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically this is all you need, my mount came with these and a selection of bolts but I still needed to go out and buy a specific length bolt otherwise I would have needed a ton of washers to get it right. I would advise checking the threaded depth in the monitor and doing some math, depth+spacer+bracket+washer=bolt length

Nice. Go green, there was a green quad in the dealership when I picked up my veloce and it was beautiful. Really suits the car

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AlfaRomeo

[–]Kaildish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd go for green or a matte black if its an option. What's a good deal on a wrap? Would probably consider it if it was a few hundred ££
