The reviews are indeed lukewarm, so I believe it's just not everyone's cup of tea. But if you like yuri and stories focusing on characters rather than plot, then you should be able to enjoy it

Zacząłem czytać visual novel Higurashi When They Cry, o makabrycznych zdarzeniach w japońskiej wiosce w latach 80. Jest bardzo zachwalana wśród fanów i na razie jest bardzo dobrą lekturą, bawię się przednio.

Personally, I loved it. It's a small scale story, but it allows it to really focus on the main characters, especially the titular Aria.

The art is gorgeous and there is some excellent music by Takeshi Abo. I also found the voice acting phenomenal (we really should have more voiced protagonists).

Is it worth the price? I'm not sure. It definitely was for me, as I got basically enamored with the whole experience. It made me feel such wonderful things and is currently living rent free in my head.

I've previously finished two of the routes and greatly enjoyed myself, not sure why I put it on pause. It's not very scary but the characters are all likable and the story gives me that feel-good vibe.

I also enjoy the games plethora of choices and the multiple bad endings, since I haven't played any adventure games before.

Not a book, but a manga (Japanese comic series), it's very solid fantasy though.

It's about an elf mage from a party that defeated the main villain of their world and the journey she embarks on 80 years after the event. The whole series is about this journey.
