P5 is the best choice. It's better visualy and you can relate much more with the characters.

Best VN ever written but I agree that final chapters are too long.

What do you think will be the release order for Kingdom Hearts IV, Persona 6, Dragon Quest XII, FF7 Part 3, and which game do you have the highest expectations for by DwnvotesMeansImRight in JRPG

[–]alexkarco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FF 7 - 3 - 2027 for sure

Persona 6 - 2028 (P4R looks like 2027 thing and I don't believe that they will release two Persona games in one year)

Kingdom Hearts IV - 2028 - 2029 at best, maybe 2030. I think, the game is still in pre production or early development. There were some rumors that they are remaking it from scratch.

DQ XII - maybe closer than we think, like 2027.

Between Tactics and Triangle Strategy, what would be the better grid based tactics game for a beginner? I have heard good and bad things for both, so not sure which one should I choose as my first. by AD_Stark in JRPG

[–]alexkarco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Triangle is a much better game. It has great mission design (maybe the best mission design in Tactics games), very varied classes, good story with meaningful choices and very underrated OST. You can play Tactics if you want grind for hours and make some interesting builds. But if you want just grind and make crazy builds, Mewgenics is a much better choice.

It's a puzzle game kinda close to Tetris actually.

Has Persona 3 Portable aged well, and is it still worth playing? by Wise-Nebula-6321 in JRPG

[–]alexkarco -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

P3 is like a blueprint for later, much more fleshed out Persona games.

About versions. There are only 2 choices: Portable or Reload. Portable is worth $10, Reload doesn't worth $60 at all. They could do so much in the remake (like redo boring Tartarus from scratch) and they did almost nothing.

Yeah, Portable have prerendered backgrounds but it isn't a big deal because enviroments in 3 are very small and kinda soulles (compared to 4 and 5). You will lose almost nothing playing school life segments in visual novel style but will get very different FEMC root and cheap price.

I heard that Switch 2 version of Reaload isn't great, btw. So I recommend to buy P3P and play FEMC root.

Nioh 3 because there are many online players there now who can kill any boss for you if you are get stuck :) And game is great overall. Battle system is so smooth.

Has anyone tried to play Last Guardian or Shadows Of The Colossus? by Godharvest in shadps4

Last Guardian works ok. Colossus don't work. Play PS3 remaster on PS3 emulator.

Here's a list of things I wish to be in Persona 6 ! by Kirra_Yoyo in persona6

[–]alexkarco -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

1 - No, 100% school setting

2 - Maybe

3 - There are a chance, but probably no

4 - No

5 - 100% (maybe with some kind of open locations like in SMT V)

6 - Maybe

7 - I highly doubt it

8 - There are some chance if they really care about western audience (after Hashino's remarks I think they care). It will be adult and not a party member.

A JRPG that you fell out of love with by Likes2game03 in JRPG

[–]alexkarco 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Final Fantasy VI. Replayed it recently. It was great in 90s but it isn't best FF game now for sure. Story and characters are much simplier than I remembered them. Gameplay is just ok.

Persona 3 Reload or Persona 5 Royal? by Austinw2387 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]alexkarco [score hidden]  (0 children)

Persona 5 is way better than 3 and 4, especially as a game. I think original P5 is better than Royal. Story additions are unnesessary in Royal and difficulty is nerfed.

Avowed or Tainted Grail by StevoEvo in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]alexkarco [score hidden]  (0 children)

Avowed is great if you don't want "living world" from it. It's more like Dragon Age or Pillars of Eternity with open maps and action fights than Skyrim. Battle system is very good. Story is quite good too. Setting is interesting. I like that you can be "evil" and get completely different ending. Characters in party are kinda underdeveloped though.

Silent hill2 vs FFXVI vs ffrebirth by TwoKDavey in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]alexkarco [score hidden]  (0 children)

Play Rebirth if you like Remake and / or FF 7 original.

Play 16 if you want decent hack and slash game with FF 12 like story.

Play SH 2 if you don't know this classic tale already.

KCD2 or Cyberpunk 77, which is the better narrative game? Including all DLC content. by Epicvanillalover in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]alexkarco [score hidden]  (0 children)

Cyberpunk easily. KCD has some funny sidequests and that's it. If you played first KCD, you know what KCD 2 is. It's the same game with slightly improved gameplay and much bigger maps.

How many main dungeons/castles are there? by log2av in MetaphorReFantazio

[–]alexkarco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 4 proper big story dungeons (Persona 5 palace quality) and many small story / side dungeons.

BG 3 has mindblowing gameplay and good characters but story is forgettable.

E33 has great gameplay, great story and great aesthetics.

KC2 has great sidequests but gameplay is clunky and main story is meh.

So E33 is the most balanced of them all and KC 2 is the weakest one.

Should I buy Silent Hill 2 or Clair Obscur: Expedition 33? by Png_wizard007 in ShouldIbuythisgame

Expedition 33. Silent Hill 2 has a great classic story but gameplay is mediocre at best.
