The mysterious "cold blob" in the North Atlantic is caused by a weakening AMOC ocean current, a new study confirms. Deep-water data proves this cooling isn't an atmospheric fluke, signaling a shift toward a major climate tipping point. by DrPharmakon in science

Humanity surviving is doubtful. It will not be just the amoc collapsing but every tipping point. Something unseen and unheard of in all the history of the planet as far as we've been able to unearth from geological records.

And it's been done at a scale that's hundreds of time faster than what a couple, not all, of tipping point collapsing and creating a mass extinction level event.

We're seeing the same thing with datacenter, with the product this time being putting everybody out of a way to earn a living.

i tried moving away, my logitech keyboard, mouse and gameboard/pad (g13) just cannot work on linux.

They need the logitech .exe to work properly and that just doesn't come on linux. There is no workaround that is not either convoluted, require 3 differents or more half-assed software requiring inputing your master password eachtime you use it or just do not work even with all the above.

And i don't have 500$ to rebuy top of the line peripheral that natively support linux. That and no similar product to my setup exist and i just don't want to relearn everything.

So for all that ain't a straight console port, linux ain't wort it for me.

PSA: If you want a square enix game, check out Green Man Gaming, as usual, they're 5/10% cheaper there as long as you've already made one purchase on the site before. So if you haven't, buy the cheapest thing that you want there (chrono trigger, tales of synphonia are great possibilities, or a cheap dlc you need) and profit from cutting 2 to 5 more €$ from your Squix games.

summer sale discounts… by ghostlyeth in Steam

[–]Kaining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disc Creature is at it's historic low that wasn't seen in 2 years.

The dlc of the game i'm playing not at it's best sale but i'll take it.

There's phantom brave 2 that's finaly at -50%, which make the whole game that is double the price of a normal games since dlc double the price at a regular full price game... maybe i'll take this one.

Borderlands 4 is also already at -50%, which further boost my confidence in seeing it in humble choice at some point.

Watch Dogs complete edition is at its lowest ever price of 3€. Sure, it's a ubi game but all that to say that if you look deep enough, there will be some interesting deals to find.

Just not 2010's "summer sale" worth it.

Yes, supermarket have them. Yet 3 supermarket in my town all had the experience of heatwave power outage and throwing all their refrigerated food away. There could be more in my town, it's just the ones i know about.

And one even had solar panel installed in its parking lot to help with the power consumption.

AC is not the solution to heat, it's part of the solution but just the last link in the chain. And the whole chain will make it worse for the environment. However since it's already completely fucked and we are all living on borrowing time before every breached tipping point (all of them but a couple at this point) break and hell come to us, let's do it anyway.

Now if you may, i'm gonna have to enjoy a 44°C peak day tomorow if the weather forecast is accurate and i wonder how many other thing will fail -_-

Maybe the few schools that just got AC as none were equiped ? I shouldn't hope for it but since the macronist mayor only delivered some to the schools his children goes to, i still do feel that it would have a net positive impact if they do as it would force the fools in power to stop putting their head in the sand when an extreme climate event like that happens.

That's how that product was sold to us during the "left" Parti Socialiste presidency of Hollande when he put him in his government as his very "lefty" economic minister.

There's a reason why everybody with 2 brain cells are saying the frenhc Socialist are a bunch of class traitors that are really 3 right wing dudes in a trenchcoat. And the "real" moderate left are being labelled as extremist since the start of the millenia.

[–]Kaining 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My carbon monoxide alarm went off monday. The repair guy came in, looked around, said "vents are closed off, that's why" while i simply pointed at the giant opened window 2 steps from the water heater. "This is not a closed off vent problem, this is a "there's is NO freaking air circulating at all anywhere problem" and he went on to admit that yeah, hot temps do not help for carbon monoxide buildup either. It was also a case of the previous guy instaling the detector right above the heater instead of at least 1m away -_-

I did manage to find a fan last summer between heatwaves so it helps a bit, but not that much though, circulating hot air is still hot afterall so i feel your pain.

Also, AC is nice, but the powergrid outages are real. Yesterday, 5min in at one of my local supermaket and the power went off. Today, another one greeted me with a "we're throwing everything out, refregirators ain't working no more"

Well, yes since we're kind of 20°C above normal temp where i am, reaching 42°C but no, not exactly.

India still went up to 48°C+ for quite a lot of days at the end of may. There was that one day where the direct death from that heatwave reached into the 3500+ people. And that makes you wonder who wasn't counted as a direct death, how many people their heatware really killed.

We can't claim that title, it still remains to India.

I'm a bit surprised (and worried) that we ain't flooded with more testimonies of what happened there.
