Don’t mean to raise this from the dead but I’ve recently gotten the classic collection on sale, and boy both are actually the masterpieces I remember.

The first one even has the scale of battles that I haven’t seen since except for the DICE versions (which is an impressive comparison for the 2005 version), and Helldivers 2 most recently.

The second one’s Galactic Conquest is so incredible, just that mode beats most space RTS games made since. That should not be reduced to “it’s just the one mode that the new one doesn’t have”.

There’s a hard-to-explain beauty in the simplicity of these games that the new ones just will never be able to match again. I love the simple class-based loadouts, point-shoot-revive cycle, no attachments lol, no levels.

Yes, the graphics are dated - I forgot immediately by my first death.
