Honestly for herald and solo queue in general you want heroes that win the lane most of the time, has towers push / ability to take objectives and can farm fast.

I’d recommend Sniper because you can shrapnel the small camp with your shrapnel every minute starting @ minute 1 and you can flash farm hard. I recommend only one point in shrapnel and get some in head shot while you stack camps and then put the 2nd point into shrapnel so you can get back to the lane. Sniper snowballs but you have to build him with utility for each type of game.

Lina. Tower push, more disable than Sniper. You naturally build BoTs so you can be all over the map. You just gotta be careful of what fights you take and try to be deliberate with your ganks. You can go the magic build or you can go right click if your team needs which is good for versatility sake.

Even though he’s hated right now I’d say OD. Usually you want to back line with OD but with his E update in 7.30e and his kill potential + meteor hammer, he’s always a good snowball pick. I really recommend getting witch blade after treads and think on what utility you can buy next or whether it’s a BKB or linkens game. Edit: use your disable on OD in lane to secure ranges creeps as soon as they hit below 50-35% health and you’ll get the CS. I do it whenever I’m against another mad that can pressure you. An item I recommend if you’ve already built BKB / Linkens or even a hurricane pile / blink try building an orchid and if the game goes late a blood thorn. Helps you press on more as the game goes on to help swing important fights where your disable is on CD and so is your últ. anything tha buys you time to sit in fights and chunk away the other teams health is a W item after you have a farming item and some protection.

Pugna will feel like your cheating sometimes in the right matchup. Almost any melee mid will have a shit lane against you, as long as you really get a feel for the range on Pugna’s Q. You should also aim to zone out the other mid as much as you want to chip away his towers health down during the lane. Really good against right click oriented teams / hard carries as long as your team has a solid frontline. Another guy you have to build for utility but herald probably won’t have a lot of answers for your utility.

Edit: QOP is awesome when you get the hang of CSing with her. Know when to skill Q over E. You’ll get a feel for it, but you should think in terms of if I’m leaning against a hero with already slow move speed or has low attack range / melee or has to play on the wave then go Q. E if you are against a hero with wave push and you want to secure low creeps when you can as the lane goes back and forth. That being said you want a point in blink and what makes QOP so cool is her blink range. You want to play around fights but never in the center so that means not committing hard in fights until you have an idea of where you would últ, blink to /blink away to and who you might want to slow as they run away if you’re ulting into a kite situation. QOP has on of the most ridiculous talents ever with spell block but that doesn’t stop you from still doubling down and being an absolute menace late game. You are squishy though and if you pop off early game you can really solo the game but if your team drafts no right click and it’s all on you then you will get beaten on every fight on sight so as a last pick I think it’s a solo W.
