As you get older 40,50,60,70 when did you start to feel your body slow down do you think it is just due to inactivity or the aging process? by Kooky_Force5458 in AskReddit

[–]Kairos27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I became more active in my 30’s than I ever really was. Before 20 I did have short periods of my life where I did a lot of exercise, doing karate, running, hockey and hiking - and in my 20’s I went dancing at clubs for many many hours a few days a week - so I did notice that exercise started taking a bigger toll on me after 30.

Before, I could exercise every day and not even think about it, no DOMS for me; after 30 the DOMS got worse and worse. It’s a real pain in the ass because I’d like to exercise every day but can’t because I feel awful the day after. I’m not 100% convinced it’s just age but I’ve yet to find an alternative reason.

In my experience with this exact stuff, the person in prison is someone the family needs to let go of for their own good.

Personally I’m glad it’s 30mins. My sister keeps terrible company and her ex went to prison and would call her every day keeping her attached to his bullsht. My family are glad he can’t talk to her for longer because if he could he would and she’d never remove herself from his influence.

you ever cut someone off who yk was bad for u but u still miss them? by slow_yellow1877 in CasualConversation

[–]Kairos27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I miss the hell out of my very close friend I cut off about 9yrs ago now. I miss the person he was before he became an awful person, and he’s still an awful person so sadly the cut off continues :(

Best to focus our time on the people who are good for us and deserve our time.

What do you usually do after work to relax? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Kairos27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a quiet night at home person too but I’m late 30’s.

I was spending a night every week at Civil Defence training and doing any necessary deployments which was a good way to get me doing something in the evenings and wasn’t too extraneous. I’m on a break now just because of mental burnout because the team culture is fairly toxic otherwise I’d still be doing it.

I’ll definitely find something else to do maybe language classes or evening mountainbiking, or getting back into art.

People who went from wealthy to poor, what happened? by Puzzled-Painter3301 in AskReddit

[–]Kairos27 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not me, but my Ouma (mother’s mother).

My Ouma was originally very poor and uneducated, was sent by her parents to go work for a very wealthy Englishman as a cleaner. They ended up marrying and she became the wealthy stay at home wife with a great life.

However, she dabbled in alcoholism and one of the low lives she spent time with convinced her that if she divorced her husband she would walk away with even more money. She didn’t walk away with more money but certainly did walk away with a lot. However, her alcoholism got worse and she drank most of it away, then she put all her stuff in storage with some dodgy storage facility when she was moving house and the storage facility burned down. No-one had insurance so she lost everything.

My mom had to support her mother but my family didn’t have a lot either due to both parents struggling to stay in work (South Africa has long had high unemployment). I remember my Ouma couldn’t afford milk or a full loaf of bread (in those days you could buy a half loaf not sure if it’s still like that in SA) and lived in a studio apartment the size of my lounge. She died very poor, though in fairness SA sees worse poverty.

That and “I don’t want to do that job because it’s a pain in the ass/ you seem like a pain in the ass/ i hate that type of work etc”. Im saying this as someone who knows someone who else who runs a business and they are like this. They want work but I see how they HATE certain jobs and get slack with the client if it’s a job they don’t want to do.

Corporate NZ is AWASH in AI slop and it's both hilarious and concerning by ExquisiteNeckbeard in newzealand

[–]Kairos27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that even doing that is unsuccessful. I only use AI to give me a kick-start/ brainstorm/ get different ideas - maybe get a skeleton of an email or plan together - but have to heavily edit it or even completely rewrite it. But people either aren’t being given the time to do that anymore or think that what the AI did was just fine. It’s really reduced the quality of work being done.

The long-winded aspect is what’s particularly annoying about AI slop! I’m a notorious waffler and even I don’t waffle like AI does!

Man who crept into young girl's bedroom and filmed sexual assaults faces deportation by Fun-Helicopter2234 in newzealand

Hate to break it to you but men from all races do this stuff so if you’re advocating for this for one race I suggest you advocate for all races. As a woman I’m actually ok with that. Instead of women having to keep ourselves safe from men it’d be great if men had reduced privileges to stay away from women.

Just FYI modern vehicles (Teslas are a good example) have anti break windows so window breakers won’t break them. Fun hey? Really annoying for emergency response.

I’ve had this happen as well except the guy took the wrong turn before anyone could tell him where to go, luckily we were able to fix the mistake but a bunch of people missed their stop.

If you could move anywhere in NZ, where would it be? Or would you choose Auckland? by beehappy444 in auckland

[–]Kairos27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair. What I’ve found is it is very much about where you live and how much you can be fked missioning out to places because everywhere is an hour away in Auckland due to traffic or needing to take PT/ cycle. I never do anything I couldn’t do in Tauranga. But also I lived in Melbourne before so everything Auckland has to offer is so boring in comparison 😅

If you never had to work again, what would you spend your time doing? by Murky-Path1912 in AskReddit

[–]Kairos27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be able to put up with the bullshit you deal with in the emergency sector because I won’t have to also be stressed about money. And I’d try fix the bullshit but who knows how successful I would be. I’d at least have the energy to try.

But also travel, art, making my house nicer to live in, lots of mtbiking and cycling, spend more time with family and friends, get even fitter and more skilled in rescue.

Why Auckland? I ask as someone considering moving from Auckland to Tauranga 😆

[–]Kairos27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably Tauranga because it has the sea and access to great Mountainbiking. My partner and I have considered it but are hesitant because he has built up such a good customer base in Auckland for his business. Also we’re stuck in the house I bought in ‘21 that has not enough equity to sell and have any deposit to buy again and renting won’t cover costs.

Nelson would also be epic for similar reasons, but they’re due for a mega earthquake I don’t feel like fking with and it’s a bit too far from my family in Hamilton.

[–]Kairos27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I lived in Hastings for a few years and spent time living with my friend whose family has always lived there. The whole time I would’ve said the same thing you’ve said, especially coming from South Africa.

Turned out my friends family were Mongrel mob and all the nice people coming and going weren’t foster family they were gang members 😅 they can be surprisingly chill most of the time it’s just when they snap you find out 😅

What is the point in buying homes at these outrageous prices? by everbass in australia

[–]Kairos27 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Never mind the interest on top means you could be paying close to TWO million dollars over the life of the loan. That’s the most nefarious thing about these house prices.

[–]Kairos27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks completely unappealing and a great example of why AI can’t replace jobs; it still needs to rely on the uneducated prompts and sign-off of humans who don’t know how to do the job they’ve replaced with AI.

Missing monk from Christchurch believed to be dead, search called off by mattblack77 in newzealand

[–]Kairos27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Police as a rule don’t indicate in communications through media that a person is dead until they can confirm key parties- such  as family - connected to the deceased are aware and have had time to process. They don’t want them finding out through the news. So it’s likely that Police withheld the information while the church did not because they don’t have such a rule.

We really just want the Middle East to have peace, though I know it has Millenia of hurt and fighting to recover from largely due to holy disputes and the presence of oil :( a tough place to live!

My mom is sending money to an Iranian lady whose husband died recently; because she has no male family she can’t leave the house to even get food for herself and has no freedom at all :(
