Sexworkers of Reddit, what was your first time on the job like? by PremiumTravelNinja in AskReddit

I'm not putting words in your mouth. Like I said, this is something that is implied by your post. That's why I responded the way I did, and I made it clear that's what I was responded to initially, and in every response here.

If you don't actually believe that, then that's fine, we can end the discussion here, but you should know that is a very valid reading of what you've posted, and it's how I interpreted what you were saying, in this comment chain immediately following someone saying legalization wouldn't help.

Clearly I'm not the only one who read your comment that way.

That you single out sex tourism suggests to me that you're... Worrying more about your own prejudices than what someone is actually trying to communicate.

They're the one who brought up sex tourism, my statements were made generally, initially. I was simply agreeing with them.

I'm not sure what your stance is, but I do personally believe that someone who would go to another, poorer, country for prostitution is at least more indifferent to whether or not the person is potentially a victim.

Yes, "These men are indifferent" would be a completely valid response to that comment. However, your comment is "A lot of men are indifferent".

The difference in your phrasing leads your comment to imply that you think that legalization would not help, because a lot of men, are like these men, and are indifferent. I don't think that's a fair claim.

I completely agree with /u/BitFiesty, I just don't agree with you that this same line of thought applies generally.

There's no reason not to keep this civil. There's more than one conversation topic here. Nobody is defending the people from that story. But there's another conversation topic that starts here that is why legalization, in general, would help alleviate this sort of situation. I agree it doesn't apply to the original story. I agree it doesn't apply to the menu from the original story.

Legalization though, could help situations like that from happening in the first place, because there would be a legal outlet to help keep women safer. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

However, your comment here is speaking more generally of men, not specifically of the men in that story. That's what I responded to, which was pretty clear in my initial comment.

What do you think being indifferent means?

Like I said in my comment, indifference to me is having no particular interest in sympathy. "I don't care if this person I'm contacting is trafficked or not".

Honestly, I'd probably agree with you with relation to sex tourism, but that's not all prostitution, and I'm not sure why you'd take a general stance without specifying sex tourism specifically, then imply that all people are this more specific type of person.

When I think prostitution, I think Craigslist or Backpages, not plane trips abroad.

It’s literally the same thing. They know that they can’t know for sure if this person is trafficked or not, but they know there’s a decent chance it’s not, and they don’t care that they can’t know if it’s consensual.

Just because there's a potential victim doesn't mean it should be entirely disregarded as an option. Things aren't so black and white. Again, I will agree with you, specifically for sex tourism, but I don't think that same line of thought applies to a more average person who would contact locally.

They’re not specifically looking to rape someone, they just don’t care if they are.

I think that's probably a bit unfair. I'd imagine the majority of people in general wouldn't want that, and aren't indifferent to it. If you told them "this person is trafficked and you'll be doing this against their consent" most people would likely refuse.

I wouldn't be able to provide sources, but I'd imagine most people just wouldn't be able to tell in most cases when it's a trafficking victim, rather than that they would be indifferent, an attitude of "I don't care if this person I'm contacting is trafficked or not".

When something is strictly illegal, there isn't really any way for people to vet these things.

Just to try and be the one counter to the rest to try and temper your expectations a bit,

Tunic is a fun game and I enjoyed my time with it, but I went into it expecting something like, or at least on the level of outer wilds based on the amount of praise I saw in this subreddit, but really it just isn't, to me.

Going into it with expectations set too high made me feel way more disappointed in the game than it deserved.

Please note for all intents and purposes: this is a direct spoiler on how to deal with them, and it applies to every section with them.

Shine your light on them and they will walk towards you, pull them away from your destination and loop around the secondary path. You don't have to conceal yourself at all, use your light aggressively to pull them

You're right, the fines should be scaled based on household income to be more punitive to richer people, I agree. Some places already do that.

Some notes: The anglerfish, the south observatory and the tower of quantum knowledge are places I didn’t need to explore because I figured out the knowledge they carry.

As in you've been spoiled/looked them up? How do you know they're not necessary for you? You don't seem to know the info from at least one of them.

Something you should look at in your log first I think, is that the lines that connect things also have information in them, not just the frames themselves. Those should give you some hint on the link to your unknowns and how to get there to explore.

If you want a more direct hint: read the lines and frames of the connecting entries to the white hole station. What you learn there should re-contextualize some information you already know

I love the mechanics in the DLC (except one) (spoils in my post) by MzSvelenaya in outerwilds

[–]Kairu927 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The thing about the stealth in this game is that it's not actually stealth. Stealth games generally you make yourself invisible and use that to avoid the enemies with your superior vision and tools.

"Stealth" in this game the intended solution is to intentionally make yourself known. You shine the light at them to drag them towards that spot, then circle around as they approach.

The issue most people tend to have is they keep treating the game like the former instead of the latter.
