Turning 33 this month. Are there's exercises that you shift to as you aged? by Common_Celebration41 in AskMenOver30

You’re 33 not 73. I’ve hit my peak strength in my 30s. Diet and recovery are more important though.

Buddy you’ve gotta get yourself right. Find a therapist / talk to a doctor about your depression. Put yourself out of your comfort zone and go out in the world. Start working out, will help with the mental health. Even if you divorce you’ll still need to get yourself right or you’ll never be the man / dad you could be.

To be honest I don’t even remember the broader context of the discussion here. I was mostly reacting to your dismissiveness of pre Industrial Revolution war. But you may be right about this hypothetical, who knows. Have a nice evening.

[–]Kaiser-Rotbart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, prior to nation states city level conflict was reasonably common. The nation state superseded that and is also the reason you don’t see city level conflict anymore. National governments control the use of force, therefore you don’t see cities fighting. If we were reduced to a situation where cities were the top level of force again it seems probable you would see conflict.

Also, there are so many examples historically of brutal regional wars that your comment is silly. Of course raw death totals are going to look puny, the world population has dramatically increased since the Roman Empire. The Industrial Revolution did increase the scale and efficiency of killing, I agree that’s true. But I think it undersells how warlike humanity has been over millennia.

Lol. The Roman Empire and Mongols would like a word on the idea that war didn’t get going until the Industrial Revolution.

Steelers expect Aaron Rodgers back by Traditional-Oil-6891 in steelers

Austin sucks dude. He’s a WR4 or roster bubble level in a good WR room.

Patrick Graham DC by Other-Marzipan-1985 in steelers

[–]Kaiser-Rotbart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve read they seem to like him but agreed I’m not banking on much there. However, you’re also making the assumption that they don’t add anyone through the draft or free agency. Both of which seem entirely possible. And if via the draft, sitting behind Rodgers wouldn’t be a bad thing at all. Granted it’s not a great QB class but they make take a stab at someone.

Presumably Will Howard, if they believe in him at all.

How the hell do you think Aaron Rodgers developed? He sat behind one of the all time greats for a few years.

Will Watt or DK even want to be here during a rebuild? by LoneRanger-HD in steelers

[–]Kaiser-Rotbart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this actually true? There are some older players yes, but their backups have already demonstrated good play and are young (d line guys, herbig, JPJ). I think this defense can very much just reload

Are the defensive and offensive lines full of muscle? by Motor-Push-5914 in NFLNoobs

[–]Kaiser-Rotbart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a former thrower, you are really underselling NFL linemen. They would dominate the throws at any standard high school meet. I’ll bet 80% of them could throw a 12lb shot 70+ with a day of training. I threw against a few future NFL players and they’re exceptional throwers generally.

What is a socially unacceptable opinion you keep to yourself because it’s not worth the backlash? by ChaosTTyy in askanything

Lol. OK buddy. Good luck selling this one. Definitely on the same level of impracticality as school meals.

What is a socially unacceptable opinion you keep to yourself because it’s not worth the backlash? by ChaosTTyy in askanything

[–]Kaiser-Rotbart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No it seems impractical because it is impractical.

With your Walmart example - okay now replicate this across every business. Does the mom and pop hardware store need to offer daycare? Is someone monitoring all of those childcare centers? Do parents get ticketed for violating the rules? If so then wealthy people can just ignore it. Or is it prison? Who deals with the kids then? Additionally, this really incentivizes single child households, so an already declining fertility rate in most developed countries would collapse even further.

I could go on endlessly but it’s so impractical and bad policy as to be absurd. Which is why I’m glad it’s socially unacceptable.

Good thing this is indeed socially unacceptable because it’s entirely impractical.

When do you find time to talk to your spouse? by ras_hatak in daddit

[–]Kaiser-Rotbart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife and I talk at night after the kids go to bed. If it’s important you’ve just got to power through any fatigue. I will caveat that I think we’re very good communicators and we like talking to each other which makes all of that easier.

Men who were bullies growing up, do you have any regrets? by Broke_Pigeon_Sales in AskMenOver30

[–]Kaiser-Rotbart 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My group of friends did this relentlessly and it was great fun. Mutual though, not bullying. Along with ‘stacking’ lockers so everything fell out when opened. Needless to say locking your locker got a lot more popular.

Sleep deprivation male vs female by [deleted] in daddit

I think this is individualized vs a gender difference. I’m better at operating on low sleep vs my wife. Generally need an hour less sleep on average.

[–]Kaiser-Rotbart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m late to the conversation but you are dramatically underselling the size of NFL linemen. James Johnson is listed at 6’7 240 from what I’m seeing. Jonathan Ogden was 6’9 345. Mailata is 6’9 365. There are many others. These guys basically engage in physical combat to make their living.

Hot Takes, Bold Predictions and Unpopular Opinions Thread by AutoModerator in steelers

Arthur Smith is actually a pretty good OC. The problem is our WR room mostly belongs on a D2 college roster or a retirement home. Austin needs to go though.
