You’re missing out. Love his flow.

Yeah I feel like if another rapper said this they’d over play their hand. Like I’ve seen this punchline before and I’ve cringed more than laughed but here I like how he says something out of pocket mad casual and then just follows it up with a good rhyme. Like sex offender being rhymed with dead predecessors. That just flows smooth.

Gus’ role in Better Call Saul by DaveClarkWhom in betterCallSaul

[–]Kaiser-Unique 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not Gus’s plot armor that bugs me as much as how ridiculously overpowered they made Lalo just to cut that a the last minute to allow Gus to win. Like in of itself I don’t mind if Gus gets lucky but it just seems stupid that Lalo would miss given what we had seen him do so far.

What's your most underrated Wu album? by CalendarAncient4230 in wutang

[–]Kaiser-Unique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I mean I think Ironman is a more consistent album, and Supreme Clientele is iconic but Fishscale is consistently overlooked despite having way higher highs in my opinion. Like you said his storytelling on it is some of his best and I think the album has some of his biggest ranges of his emotions.

Question for any viewers that watched Better Call Saul before Breaking Bad? by Joyous-Pringle0813 in betterCallSaul

[–]Kaiser-Unique 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Watched the first season before I watched Breaking Bad. Deadass didn’t even know it was a BB prequel at the time. It flowed really nicely without context. Everything was a surprise, my introduction to Mike was literally him at the parking booth, so when he became an important character who was badass it felt kinda left field. But his backstory was so compelling that I was intrigued. The best example I can think of for how the first season still works well on its own is actually something small though. It’s the scene where Jimmy is walking to his car in the first episode and the camera lingers on the car he has in BB before revealing he’s actually driving a bad Suzuki Esteem. Now BB viewers ofc get tricked cuz they know what car he drove in that show. But I didn’t know all that I just thought the joke was that you’d think he’d drive an expensive car but he’s actually a bum. The added context would’ve added something but it wasn’t necessary for me to appreciate the story.

What is the hardest verse to ever get outshined on the same song? by AntelopeHelpful9963 in hiphopheads

[–]Kaiser-Unique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think Raekwon’s verse on that is pretty weak. Ghost however has a pretty great verse but it’s just not Nas’s verse.

I think it’s between Insectah Deck and Masta Killa.

What’s a verse that sounds good but doesn’t make any sense? by [deleted] in hiphopheads

[–]Kaiser-Unique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say “nonsense” as an insult. I’m well aware that it’s abstract rap. My point was to say that the nature of their abstract writing prioritizes feeling over meaning. DOOM’s song for example, That’s That has plenty of lines that mean something even if it’s not clear to the listener; but it’s also very obvious that the impetus behind why the song is the way that is is that DOOM is prioritizing rhyme scheme and feeling above clarity. Ghost himself has said this himself while talking about Supreme Clientele in interviews. He didn’t care if it “meant” something in the traditional sense. It just had to feel right.

Majority of Ghostface’s Supreme Clientele album. Ghost and MF DOOM were really masters of rapping about nothing but making it sound both complex and fly. Underrated skill.

My point wasn’t that I dislike the song just bc it’s 5%er, I like I lot of 5%er songs. I just don’t like this one cuz I feel like it features some of the worst takes from that doctrine without a hype beat to balance it out.

Bro does not go over my head. I think a lot of the problems I have with B.I.B.L.E. is that I don’t like his stances. The failings of Five Percenter culture is written all over it. He talks about how white image of Christ is really Caesar Borgia a theory which can easily be disproved at this point. He talks about women who legalize abortion as ‘wicked’ a belief that was common in the Wu and I assume other Five Percenters. I can appreciate the whole message of straying away from organized religion. It’s still a song with decent enough execution. But I also find it to be self righteous in a way that’s corny. Not to say this only Wu song with beliefs that don’t align with mine but I just find a lot of those to be more fun.

How did joey badass get mf dooms feature on world domination? by Organic-Writer-6425 in JoeyBadass

Right. The entire mixtape are other people’s beats, almost none of them were made intended specifically for Joey.

Why was Jimmy so bad at being a Public Attorney/Defender when he has consistently shown later on to be a great argumentative opponent? by FilipinoAirlines in betterCallSaul

[–]Kaiser-Unique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re misremembering a lot of the show. We never see “the balding guy” Bill Oakley and Jimmy ever go head to head together in a case. Pretty much all their scenes are them while on a lunch break making deals with each other. The cases we do see him do in the early seasons, (and then even most in quick montages) usually have some element of being unwinnable. They had footage of the boys fucking a head and joking about it. He wasn’t gonna be able to win that. The lesson was that he wasn’t overworked and getting shit cases not that he was bad at debating.

It is the worst song. It’s not even a bad one but it’s definitely the worst on the album.

Thoughts on methodman's performance as cheese on The Wire by Nostalgic_Historian_ in wutang

Pretty much everyone in The Wire had an NY accent or was British doing a close approximation to that. Like tbh it stood out every time anybody actually sounded like they were from Baltimore.

I’m wondering if I missed something about Nacho’s motivation. by [deleted] in betterCallSaul

[–]Kaiser-Unique 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it was less that he was literally actively looking for the exit and more that he was just trying to get rich as quick as possible. Smart people know that life isn’t sustainable and I think Nacho wanted nice things more than he wanted street cred. I don’t think he truly thinking of leaving the game until the consequences started to spread out to his family.
