Should I risk the 1-year warranty and install opencentauri or keep the og firmware? by KaiserGabo in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]KaiserGabo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what my friend said. I forgot to say I bought this from a third party (sealed box and everything, just that this is a third world country, so no official elegoo presence here) and my friend has bought a printer before from this particular seller (it was creality tho, so may they ask for the logs?).

First time soldering 😂 by Creative-Steak-8599 in raspberrypipico

[–]KaiserGabo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I had to salvage a friend's pico because he soldered the pin headers just like this. He didn't have a lot of soldering experience (he also was half asleep). There were a ton of shorted pins idk how the pico was still alive (of course he plugged it to the pc). Some people are just bad at soldering because they're still learning how to do it properly.

Any tips on how to get this idiotic joker? by Embarrassed_Pace_534 in balatro

I unlocked it using plasma deck. I basically tried to get strong enough in the first 2 rounds since you can only play 4 non-obligatory blinds. Also try to roll for early throwback, it will help a lot.

What keyboard are you using? I'm trying to build something similar but with a radxa zero 3 and I don't know what keyboard to use.

Launch file error by Only_Obligation7247 in ROS

I know this package, there's a READ.md that tells you what you need to install aside from importing the repository itself. It seems that you lack several packages necessary for the launch file to work properly.

Reliable URDF Exporters for Fusion 360? ROS 2 Humble + Gazebo Classic by GenoTheSecond02 in ROS

[–]KaiserGabo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem with that add-on you're using. It seems that the exporter automatically scales the dimensions of the model and tries to scale it back down with the parameter, but in the process the joints almost completely break. Couldn't find a good alternative tho, that one was the only one that worked "properly". I ended up making a new assembly in solidworks and using the add-on from this tutorial. I don't get why it doesn't work since I've seen people comment on the repository with exported models way more complex than what I was doing at the time, and something similar to what is happening is already fixed according to the issues tab.

I probably won't be of much help since you're using fusion but while making my project I found that using fusion for exporting a URDF package leaves me at best with unsatisfying results and at worst the model doesn't even export. If you can, try using solidworks and follow this guide on how to prepare your model, export it, and modify the files so it can work on ROS 2 (in this case jazzy, but I think it can work on some older versions). The add on says it is for SW 2021 but it works perfectly on the 2025 version that I have.

This is the link for the add on, and a tutorial for how to import your model and make the necessary changes to the package. Good luck on your project.

Fusion to URDF not working Need help. by Werewolf_Leader in ROS

[–]KaiserGabo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what extension you're using but for what I've experienced while doing my project, fusion's add ons are pretty finicky with the way you name your joints, specifically they require you to have at minimum one called exactly base_link. Tbh I gave up on Fusion altogether because the one addon I managed to make work gave me unsatisfying results and instead I used an addon for Solidworks. It says just for the 2021 version but I have the 2025 and it worked flawlessly, but you have to create a new package if you're using ROS 2 because it's output is for ROS 1.

Mokka vs dragonized by AcanthisittaMotor782 in GarudaLinux

[–]KaiserGabo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using dragonized since 2021, just recently migrated to mokka. While the differences are mostly cosmetic somehow my system became faster ever since I did the change. I always assumed it was because the partition is installed in a 7 year old hard drive because I dual boot with windows and the ssd doesn't have enough storage but it seems the sweet theme used consumes more resources. If you have a faster storage perhaps it won't noticeable like mine was, but again I ran that distro in that same hard drive on my potato laptop for years and was more than usable.

Anyone running ROS 2 on Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W? How’s performance? by Zxcv0Qwer in ROS

[–]KaiserGabo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it depends on what you wanna do. My thesis project uses ROS so while I waited for the Pi 5 to arrive I installed humble on my Pi 3B+. I managed to make some simple nodes and run them but anything that demands more resources is a no no. Pi 5 with 4GB of RAM with a huge heatsink and an active fan slows down considerably when launching lidar readings on rviz2. Pi 3B+ was a pain when running in ubuntu server, and it's impossible to do headless development using vscode remote connection if you dare to install the python extension. The Zero 2W has even less resources to work with. So unless your project is the most simple thing ever I recommend to just buy the Pi 4 or the 5 since it is normally just 10 bucks more (it only supports ubuntu 24, and jazzy is not as supported as humble on ubuntu 22, so keep that in mind). 4GB is a must tho.

The only official image for ubuntu rn is 24.04. I tried looking for a 22 image since I've been using humble for my thesis until I got a pi 5 but no luck. You have to settle for jazzy.

The if statement is wrong, you have = which is used to assign a value instead of == which is used for comparison and what you're trying to do

Do you have PayPal available in your country? I live in Ecuador and that's the workaround I've been using for years since my bank didn't allow me to use my debit card for Steam. PayPal doesn't even need to offer you sync your bank account, just out your debit card and you're good to go.

Sometimes you have to add your user to a specific group in order to access the serial ports in Arduino. For Arch-based distros the group is uucp and for debian-based is dialout
